Samantha McLeod, Child Care Consultant, assisted me on today’s visit. This DPI afterschool program currently operates with a Four-Star License, effective June 7, 2023. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Tamara Staton, Group Leader in the program. The Program Coordinator, Sandra Gravely, was absent today. Ms. Staton assisted us with the information required during the visit. Emergency drills and fire drills were documented and current. Fifty-eight children were present. I observed the children upon dismissal from the school day, during transitions, and eating snack. A partial assessment of applicable child care requirements was conducted during today’s visit. Two violations were observed and documented. Violation Number Comment Rule 508 Special diet or food allergy information was not posted where they can be seen in food preparation and eating areas. Allergy information was not posted in eating areas. .0901(g) 526 Menus for all meals and snacks were not current or posted where easily seen by parents and cook. The current menu is for September 2025. 10A NCAC 09 .0901(b) To maintain compliance with North Carolina child care laws and rules, the above violations must be corrected immediately. Please send me a correction letter by email stating how the violations were corrected and how you plan to maintain compliance in the future. It must be submitted to me by November 12, 2025. Include the following information in your correction letter: 1. Facility Name 2. Facility ID 3. Date of the letter 4. The violation number, the date the violation was corrected, information regarding how the violation was corrected and how you plan to maintain compliance with the item number in the future. Technical Assistance provided today: Allergies need to be current and posted in the food preparation area. The list of allergies needs to be dated and match the information on the child’s application forms. Menus also need to be current and posted where families can see them and in the food preparation areas.
