You, Joni Bailey, Owner/Operator, assisted me with the visit. The last annual compliance visit was conducted on March 8, 2023. The center's compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was ninety-eight percent as of February 12, 2024. I visited each indoor and outdoor space. I observed children adequately supervised, capacity restrictions maintained, adequate approved space use and permit restrictions maintained during today’s visit. I observed children during free choice activities, outdoor play, lunch, and rest time. Lunch was observed and consisted of chicken, corn, apricots, a roll, and milk. I observed toys, equipment, and materials throughout the facility to be of sufficient quantity, developmentally appropriate, and in good repair. There is also a bathroom in the downstairs area that is used by the children in care. I observed the bathroom to be stocked with toilet paper, soap, and a hand towel. I monitored your outdoor play spaces for general safety today. I observed a broken piece of lattice with exposed sharp edges. You removed the piece of lattice on the play area during today’s visit. I observed your Four-Star license located in a frame on a shelf. I observed other required documents posted on a bulletin board in the child care room. I observed sign in/out rosters in a binder on a cubby shelf. All children present today were signed in as required. You sign the children in and out daily indicating the time of arrival and departure. I monitored previous attendance records to be filed in a folder. You stated no medications or diaper creams are administered at your family child care home. I observed your monthly Fire Drill Log. I observed the last fire drill documented on this log was dated February 12, 2024, at 9:15am. I observed your Shelter-in-Place/Lockdown Drill Log documenting drills for the past twelve months and conducted every three months as required. I observed the last emergency drill documented on this log was a lockdown dated February 29, 2024, at 2:30pm. You stated that you have not have any incidents to record on an incident log. You stated that you do not provide transportation. The following violations were documented during today’s visit: Violation Number Comment Rule 1306 Operator has not completed ITS-SIDS training every three years from the completion date of the previous ITS-SIDS training. The operators ITS-SIDS expired on 10/8/23. ITS-SIDS training was completed on 11/14/23. .1703(a)(4) 1920 Indoor and outdoor area was not checked daily for debris, vandalism, broken equipment, and animal waste. On the outdoor play I observed a broken piece of lattice exposing sharp edges. The operator removed the lattice from the play area during today's visit. .1719(a)(17) Technical assistance (TA) was provided regarding the following: 1. We discussed certifications such as ITS-SIDS should be renewed on or before the expiration date. Training opportunities can be found outside of the county that you reside. A suggestion is that reminders can be set in your phone or on a calendar several months prior to expiration date to ensure that training is found and completed in a timely manner. 2. We discussed that when materials are broken that they be removed from the area immediately to prevent injury to individuals and being accessible to children. Consultation was provided regarding the following: 1. Your facility is listed in Cohort 2 for the Star Rated License Reassessment. July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, begins your facility’s prep year. July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, will be your facility’s reassessment year. 2. We discussed that if you will be accepting children’s well visit reports in place of completing the children’s medical report form to ensure that you are reviewing the well visit report to make sure all information is included that is listed on the children’s medical report form. 3. We discussed visiting the DCDEE website under the provider forms tab to ensure that you are using the most current forms for your facility. 4. We discussed that the NC Summary of Child Care Law has been revised as of September 2023. Please print the most recent version and post it in your child care area. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent.
