The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed on May 13, 2025. Prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was 99%, which is at or above 75%, as required by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4)(c-d). Your program currently operates with a five-star license issued October 12, 2020. The License was based on the program earning seven points in education standards, seven points in program standards, and one quality point by completing a business training course of at least 30 clock hours. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Tasha Moore, Operator, and the owner’s corporation status, Owl’s Academy L. L. C., was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as current-active. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Provisional completed January 8, 2025. Tasha Moore, Operator, was present while I observed the indoor and outdoor areas. There were no children in care. Three children are currently enrolled in the program. Children are school aged and attend in the mornings and evenings from 5:00 AM – 7:00 AM and 6:05 PM – 8:00 PM. During today’s visit, we discussed requirements to increase the facility’s capacity. I verified the following requirements to increase the facility’s capacity to 10: All children are kept on ground level 5lb ABC type Fire Extinguisher located on cubbies EPR Plan – Fire Safety, Evacuation, and Lockdown plan The home does not use gas or has a garage. Therefore, a carbon monoxide alarm is not required. The home has a gas water heater. During today’s visit, you requested to increase your license capacity to 10. Once you receive a sanitation inspection, contact me so that I can process your request to increase your license capacity to 10. QRIS Modernization Pathway: During today’s visit an overview of section .3200 of the child care rules was provided. Each of the following pathway options were discussed: Program Assessment Pathway, Classroom and Instructional Quality Pathway, and Accreditation and Head Start Pathway. Education requirements were also reviewed. Based on today’s conversation you will be pursuing the Classroom and Instructional Quality Pathway 2. At the completion of the visit, the visit summary was reviewed with Ms. Moore. No violations were observed. Violation Number Comment Rule 1544 The child care operator did not comply with all State laws, federal laws and/or local ordinances that pertain to child health, safety, and welfare, as required by General Statute 110-91. The facility did not have an annual sanitation inspection with classification of at least “approved”. The current sanitation inspection conducted on 1/8/25 was rated a Provisional. Tasha Moore, Operator, was present while I observed the indoor and outdoor areas. One child was present in the sick area. The child was given lunch during the visit. Lunch consisted of meatballs, carrots/broccoli, grapes, roll, and milk. There were also back-and -forth exchanges with the child during lunch. They talked about animal sounds, color, why the child’s grapes were cut-up, and being safe so that the child would not get hurt. GS 110-91 TA/Reminders/Discussions: According to North Carolina Secretary of State website, the owner, Owl’s Academy LLC., is reading Active - Not Current due to not filing an Annual Report. Refer to the website www.sosnc.gov for additional information. You have until December 10, 2024 to file the report. Contact me once you have filed the report and the entity reads Active-current. Sanitation Inspection: The facility did not have the EH sanitation inspection. The current sanitation inspection was dated November 16, 2023. Contact Environmental Health at 910-433-3676, to inform them of your Routine Unannounced visit. A current sanitation inspection must be completed by December 10, 2024.
