The permit and a summary of NC Child Care Law were all posted at the time of today's visit. Qualifying letters, CPR/ first aid, ITS-SIDS, health questionnaire, emergency procedures and the children's records were also monitored for compliance. The last fire drill was documented as completed on 5-1-26 at 10:14 am. The last outdoor inspection was documented as completed on 5-1-26. A shelter in place drill was documented as conducted on 5-1-26 at 10:30 am. Five preschool children, including your preschool age son and daughter, were present. The children were observed during naptime and while interacting with you. A four star family child care home license with seven points in education, two points in program standards and one quality point was issued to you on 7-20-24. Based on observations made and information provided, you continue to meet the requirements previously met to obtain such a license. During today's visit, three preschool children were present and were observed during free play. Violation Number Comment Rule 1831 A valid qualification letter was not on file and available for review at the facility. A qualification letter was not on file for the provider's son with a date of birth of 10-14-08. G.S. 110-90.2 (b) & (d) & .2703(e) .1702(b)(1) 1846 An individual over the age of 15, who resides in a family child care home or a center located in a residence on a permanent or temporary basis, or those who had their 16th birthday after the initial licensing of a family child care home; did not complete and submit required forms within five business days. The provider's son, who had his sixteenth birthday on 10-14-24, did not complete a criminal background check packet as required. G.S. 110-90.2 & .2703(q) At the time of today's visit, your sixteen year old son did not have a criminal background check qualification letter on file. We discussed during your last visit that following his birthday you would have five business days to complete the full criminal background check process and obtain a qualification letter for him. I also explained during that visit that this would be monitored during your next visit. You stated today that you recalled discussing this and that you failed to have him complete the process. I explained that your license may be placed on inactive status until the letter is obtained. I will contact you following the visit to verify if your license must be placed on inactive status. If so, you cannot provide care to children in your home until your license is returned to active statue, which will not occur until you submit a copy of his qualification letter to me. Two violations pertaining to the criminal background check process were documented during the visit. These items will be corrected upon receipt of a copy of his letter. During the visit, we discussed the hold harmless state for rated license and that this has been extended to June of 2024. If you would like to voluntarily have your rated license reassessed prior to this timeframe, a three month self study would be required. I monitored the indoor environments for compliance with child care requirements. Smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, first aid kit, refrigerator thermometer, storage of medication and hazardous products, outlets, garbage storage, toys and materials and the bathroom the children use were all monitored for compliance. The permit, schedule, SIDS information, emergency telephone numbers, First Aid Chart and a summary of NC Child Care Law were all posted at the time of today's visit. Qualifying letters, CPR/ first aid, ITS-SIDS, health questionnaire and emergency procedures were monitored for compliance. The last fire drill was documented as completed on 1-18-24 at 9:25 am with an evacuation time three minutes. The last outdoor inspection was documented as completed on 2-5-24. A lockdown drill was documented as conducted on 12-8-23 at 10:00 am. During today's visit, two preschool children, including your two year old son, were present and were observed during free play. A meal or snack was not observe during the visit. A four star family child care home license with seven points in education, two points in program and one quality point was issued to you on 9-23-19. Based upon observations made and information provided during the visit, you continue to meet the requirements previously met to obtain such a license. During the visit, we discussed the hold harmless state for rated license and that this has been extended to June of 2024. If you would like to voluntarily have your rated license reassessed prior to this timeframe, a three month self study would be required.
