Name of Operation: JOHNSTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTE Facility ID: 51000263 Consultant: PAULA DAVIS Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 1/30/2024 Number Present: 25 Completed Date: 1/30/2024 Age: From 1 To 5 Total Minutes: 150 Time In: 10:00 AM Time Out: 12:30 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today's unannounced visit was to monitor compliance of applicable child care requirements during your annual compliance visit. Computer generated documentation was completed during the visit and reviewed with you. A copy was provided for you today. I monitored the indoor and outdoor environments for compliance with child care requirements. Staff/child ratios, supervision, use of space and capacity were monitored for compliance. The permit, sanitation, evacuation, safe arrival and departure procedures, first aid chart, menus, daily schedules, activity plans, summary of NC Child Care Law and staff/child ratios were posted at the time of the visit. The storage of medication and hazardous products was also monitored for compliance. No new staff were hired since the last annual compliance visit. A sample of files for existing staff was reviewed and the information on the worksheet was verified. A sample of children's records was reviewed during the visit and the worksheet was completed. A fire drill was documented as conducted on 1-3-24 at 9:45 am with an evacuation time of two minutes. A lockdown drill was documented as completed on 1-4-24. An outdoor inspection was documented as completed on 12-18-23. An approved fire inspection was last completed on 2-23-23. A sanitation inspection was last completed on 10-20-23 with two demerits and a superior classification. During the visit, the children were observed playing outside, playing in the classrooms and participating in routines. A meal or snack was not observed. The corporation status of Johnston Community College Child Development Center, Inc. was verified as current and active during today's visit using the Secretary of State's website. A five star license with seven points in education, seven points in program and one quality point was issued to you on 4-15-18. Based on information provided and on observations made, you continue to meet the requirements previously met to obtain such a license. Violation Number Comment Rule 319 Staff/child ratios applicable to a classroom, were not posted in each classroom. Staff/child ratios were not posted in the classroom for the NC Pre-K children. .0713(a)(10), (c) & (f)(3); .2818(e) 540 An individual written feeding plan was not provided by child's parent or health care provider or was not followed and posted. (omit posting for centers located in a residence) The feeding schedule for one child was not posted. 10A NCAC 09 .0902(a) 802 Safe pick-up and delivery procedures were not communicated to parents and/or were not posted where they can be seen by the parents. Safe pick up and delivery procedures wee not posted. .1003(b) ****Child care licensing requirements are established to ensure a safe and healthy child care environment. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all of the licensing requirements that apply to your type of program. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with all of the applicable laws and rules at all times. The best way for you to make sure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the child care law and rules.**** The violations documented today were corrected during the visit, therefore a compliance letter is not required.
