An annual compliance visit was conducted on January 13, 2026. The NC Secretary of State website was reviewed prior to today's visit and SOUTHEASTERN COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP, INC was listed as current-active. I was greeted by Julie Johnson, Family Service Worker. Dr. Hope Scott, Administrator, was not present. A walk-through of the facility was completed today, all indoor and outdoor areas were monitored. Teachers interacted with the children on their level. One new staff file was monitored for compliance. The license and emergency care plan were posted. Fire drills, medication administration, and storage of hazardous products were also monitored. Overall attendance and enrollment were collected today. The space, capacity and enrollment worksheet reflects the enrollment and attendance information along with the staff that were present and caring for children today. REQUIRED INSPECTIONS: -The last sanitation inspection was completed on April 10, 2025. Since a current inspection has not been completed, this is a violation of child care requirements - The last fire inspection was completed on May 15, 2025. *Make sure to contact the local fire inspector to request a current inspection be completed. One item of non-compliance with child care requirements was observed and documented during today's visit. On or before May 28, 2026, I must receive a compliance letter that explains how the violation was corrected. You can email the information to: Miriam.Byrd@dhhs.nc.gov. *You may state in the compliance letter that you contacted the Environmental Health Specialist , include the date, to request a current inspection. The violation will be in a 'pending' status until the inspection has been completed. Child care licensing requirements were established to ensure a safe and healthy child care environment. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all the licensing requirements that apply to your type of program. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with all the applicable laws and rules at all times. The best way for you to make sure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the child care law and rules. Make sure you visit the Division of Child Development's website (www.ncchildcare.nc.gov) on a regular basis to find out what's new in childcare. You can also find any needed Child Care forms by going on the web site and clicking on the "Provider" tab and then clicking on the "Provider Documents" tab. You are required to maintain compliance with all applicable child care rules and regulations at all times. NC GS 110- 90(4)(d) requires all child care facilities to maintain a compliance history score of at least 75% for the past 18 months or during the length of time the facility has operated, whichever is less. Failure to do so may result in the issuance of a provisional license or other administrative action. Your compliance history score from 11/15/2024 to 5/14/2026 is 99%. During today's visit, I observed a group of children participating in group time activity focused on learning the number 6 and the color pink. The teacher introduced the concepts through discussion, visual materials, movement-based (counting jumps) and hands-on participation opportunities. Some children were actively engaged and able to identify the color when prompted, while others demonstrated limited participation and attention during the activity. You may want to increase engagement by using songs, props, manipulatives, and interactive questions that encourage every child to respond. Additionally, providing opportunities for children to take turns leading parts of the activity may increase confidence and involvement. At the conclusion of today's visit, the visit summary was reviewed with Ms. Kimberly Billings, teacher. A copy of the computer-generated visit summary report, the space, capacity and enrollment worksheet, and a copy of the compliance history report was left with Ms. Billings. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding today's visit or child care requirements, please contact me at (910) 709-5985 or via email. You may also contact Janet Edwards, Licensing Supervisor, at (910) 709-4160, janet.edwards@dhhs.nc.gove If the operator fails to correct any documented violations within the established time period, the Division of Child Development and Early Education may deny, suspend, terminate, or revoke any permit to operate (10A NCAC 09 .2000).
