This family child care home operates with a Two (2) Star License issued October 27, 2021, earning two (2) points in program standards, one (1) point in education, and one (1) quality point based on the infant capacity restricted to no more than two children under one year of age. The last annual compliance visit was June 27, 2024. You, S. Williams, Owner, were present and notified of the purpose of the visit. One (1) enrolled children was present during the visit. The child was observed in free choice play and teacher directed activities. All interactions between the child and caregiver were warm and nurturing. A walkthrough of the home was completed today. Fire drills, shelter in place/lock down drills, and playground inspections were all current. I used the Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist for Family Child Care Homes and the Family Child Care Home Item Number Listing (DCD 0357) as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable child care requirements pertinent to this facility. Please remember the entire home is licensed for child care and must meet the applicable child care requirements. Although you designated space to be used for child care in a specified section of your home, the license is issued for the entire location. Any monitoring visit conducted may include spaces other than those you designated for child care. Due to connectivity issues, a handwritten visit summary was reviewed and left with you at the conclusion of the visit. A computer-generated visit summary will be emailed to you within two (2) business days. The following violations of child care requirements were documented. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE/ CONSULTATION S. Williams, did not have documentation for the completion of Recognizing and Responding to Child Maltreatment training on file for review. The last documented training expired in August 2017. You stated you took the training on 7/25/2024 but the certificate was not printed. The CPR and First Aid Training on file expired on 2/7/2025. You stated you are registered to take the CPR and First Aid training in June 2025, and that was the earliest class you could find. Due to the recent impacts of Hurricane Helene and other natural disasters, this deadline has been revised statewide, and facilities that have not yet enrolled should complete the online process by May 31, 2025. The Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids Program is providing free facility-wide testing and inspections without any out-of-pocket costs. Due to the volume of testing and inspections, completion of the online enrollment process in the program is considered temporary compliance with the testing and inspection requirement and will allow facilities to participate in the funding mechanisms. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE/CONSULTATION WRITTEN PLAN OF CARE One (1) child did not have a Written Plan of Care, acknowledging receipt by the parent, on file for review by the Division. Each child enrolled at the FCCH should have a written plan of care on file, that has been reviewed and signed by the parent. CAREGIVER REQUIREMENTS The child care operator did d not have documentation of annual review of the Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPR). The last review of the EPR plan was documented February 7, 2022. All staff, including the child care operator should review the EPR plan annually and should maintain documentation of the most recent review. RESOURCES HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAININGS DCDEE has partnered with the NC Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center to offer health and safety trainings in MOODLE. These trainings will remain at no charge for staff. The contract with ProSolutions ended on September 30, 2020. Health and safety trainings are due every five (5) years, including the Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment. The Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training must be completed via the Prevent Child Abuse NC website. The enrollment process and completion of course materials tend to work best with a windows laptop or desktop using Firefox, but other devices and Google Chrome should also work. You can access the health and safety trainings available in Moodle and Frequently Asked Questions by logging in using NCID and completing the following steps: • From the Moodle home page, students need to log-in with their NCID and password. The log-in is in the upper right corner of the screen. If you do not have a current log-in you will need to create one. • After log-in, the student should scroll to the bottom of the page. In the ‘Search courses’ box, the student should type in the short name “Year 2023 CCDF” and then click go. The student should not register for prior year courses as they are no longer available. • After completing the course search for “Year 2023 CCDF”, the student should be able to register for the course. • Once registered, the student will then need to use the “ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS” for step-by-step instructions. Should a student encounter an issue, we are requesting they report the CCDF 2023 course issue (i.e. they are unable to complete the course evaluation or receive a training certificate), to the North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center using the following link https://healthychildcare.unc.edu/contact-us-form/. INFANT-TODDLER EDUCATOR AWARD$ PLUS PROGRAM Infant-Toddler Educator AWARD$® Plus is a salary supplement program, available in all NC counties, designed to increase the education, retention and compensation of teachers and family childcare educators working with our youngest children. The Infant Toddler Educator AWARD$ program has recently gone through some exciting programmatic updates. The original AWARD$ program was only available to teachers working full-time in B-3 classrooms that had an AA in ECE or higher degree and were employed by 4- and 5-star programs. The education requirement has been reduced as an incentive to support teachers seeking to increase their education in any star rated licensed program. To be eligible for AWARD$ Plus, applicants must: • Work at least 30 hours/week with infants, ones, or twos. • Earn at or below $20/hour. • Work in a licensed child care center or home. • Have at least 12 semester hours of birth to five focused coursework.
