Name of Operation: JIREH CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER Facility ID: 53000154 Consultant: TURKESHIA MCCORMICK Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 12/4/2024 Number Present: 11 Completed Date: 12/4/2024 Age: From 1 To 4 Total Minutes: 85 Time In: 09:45 AM Time Out: 11:10 AM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Routine Unannounced Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor your program for compliance with applicable child care requirements for a routine unannounced visit. Andrea McGhee, owner/administrator, assisted me with the visit. The center's compliance history was one hundred percent (100%) as of 12/3/2024 and was reviewed with Mrs. McGhee. The license was posted, and the restrictions were in compliance. A walk-through of the facility was completed today, all indoor and outdoor areas were monitored. I observed children in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments. Supervision and staff/child ratios were found to be in compliance. Children throughout the facility were participating in group time, free play in activity areas, transitions and personal care routines. No new staff have been hired since my last visit. Rated license requirements were reviewed to ensure compliance was maintained with current program and education components as well as the quality point. The last fire inspection was conducted on 3/13/2024 and the last sanitation inspection was conducted on 6/28/2024 and received a superior rating. There following violation was documented during today’s visit: Violation Number Comment Rule 428 A current activity plan was not posted for each group of children for reference. The activity plan posted in the space used by the preschoolers was dated 11/18/2024-11/22/2024. GS 110-91(12); .0508(a) A compliance letter is not required at this time. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. Technical assistance was offered on implementing a fall/winter and spring/summer schedule to accommodate later or earlier outdoor times based on the seasons of the year. When weather becomes cooler due to the fall/winter seasons, it is sometimes easier to implement a schedule that allows for a later outdoor time. An earlier outdoor time may be needed in the spring/summer months to avoid the warmer weather. Technical assistance was also offered on playing music during free play or other group activities without an intended purpose. Sometimes when music is played in the background as a filler, it can take away the opportunity for meaningful conversations and interactions to take place. At other times it can cause the noise level in the classroom to be higher than normal because individuals have to speak over the music in order to be heard. Try limiting times when music is played to music/movement time, as a transitional prompt or during rest periods. For the latest information on child care rules and regulations, please visit the Division of Child Development and Early Education's website at https://ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov/. At the completion of the visit, this visit summary was printed, reviewed, and a copy was left with Andrea McGhee. If the operator fails to correct any documented violations within the established time period, the Division of Child Development and Early Education may deny, suspend, terminate, or revoke any permit to operate (10A NCAC 09 .2000).
