The program currently operates with a four-star license, issued August 8, 2018, earning seven points in education standards, two points in program standards and one quality point by complying with the programmatic option. License restrictions include daytime and overnight care, a maximum of five preschool children at any time, infant’s capacity restricted to no more than two children under one year of age. Sheila Piggie, owner/operator, assisted me with the visit. The last annual compliance visit was conducted on January 18, 2024. The program’s compliance history was one hundred (100) percent as of 1/7/2025 and was reviewed with the operator during the visit. The North Carolina Government Data Analytics Center (GDAC) portal also known as Caseworker Assist was checked and no results were found. A walk-through of the family childcare home was completed today, and all indoor and outdoor areas were monitored. I observed children in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments and found supervision and staff/child ratios to be in compliance. Children were observed participating in group time, free play in activity areas, transitions and personal care routines. Breakfast consisted of sausage, sliced grapes, sliced bread and milk. : The following violations were observed during today’s visit: Violation Number Comment Rule 2030 Operator did not provide a written statement to parents regarding the smoking and tobacco restriction.
