Upon arrival, I was invited in by an office staff member and was greeted by the director, Treco Lea-Jeffers. This program is operating with five-star license, meeting reduced ratios and enhanced space. The operator completed the last fire inspection on 12/19/2023 and the last sanitation inspection on 9/21/2023. Ms. Lea-Jeffers escorted me as I completed a walkthrough of the indoor and outdoor learning environment. I observed the children having a group time, getting ready to go outside, playing in the activity center areas, and playing in the outdoor learning environment. I observed the following violation today. I reviewed the item with Ms. Lea-Jeffers and provided technical assistance. Violation Number Comment Rule 842 A drug or medication was administered without written authorization and/or instructions from a child's parent or authorized health professional. "The authorization for two inahler medications for two children, a child in room #8 and a child in room #10, had expired on 2/20/2024 and 3/7/2024 respectively." 10A NCAC 09 .0803(1)(a & b) The above violation must be corrected immediately. I must receive a compliance statement/ letter by email or mail by 4/3/2024. In the letter, include the following information: 1. Your facility ID# and Name 2. Visit date 3. Violation item number(s) 4. How and when the violation was corrected (Be specific) 5. Technical Assistance >Authorization form for the administration of medications: Parental permission for prescription medications and over the counter medications such as Tylenol, Benedryl, etc. is good for 6 months. For over the counter topical cream/ ointment/ spray, etc., the authorization is good for 12 months. >Rated license: You are in Cohort 1. The preparation year ends in June 2024. The assessment of the rated license will begin in July 2024 for Cohort 1. If you wish to complete the Environmental Rating Scale (ERS) before the summer break, I need to receive the request from you now. However, Ms. Lea-Jeffers told me she would wait until next school year to request ERS. Complete and send me the Rated License Review Request Form when you are ready. Once I receive it, I will contact North Caroline Rated License Assessment Project (NCRLAP). NCRLAP will reach out to you shortly after that. >All violation(s)h ave to be corrected in order to move forward with the rated license assessment process. >If applicable, submit any new education information to WORK Force in a timely manner. >Visit www.ncrlap.org to access the Environment Rating Scale (ERS) training videos, frequently asked questions, additional notes, and more. I provided Ms. Lea-Jeffers an opportunity to ask questions regarding today’s visit and interpretation and the implementation of childcare requirements applicable to the facility.
