You, Amanda Blue, Lead Teacher, assisted me with the visit. The program operated with a five-star license, issued January 10, 2017, earning seven points for education, seven points for program, and one quality point for complying with an education option. License restrictions include daytime care only, meets all enhanced requirements and reduce ratios minus one. The program’s compliance history was one hundred percent as of April 22, 2024. I observed children participating outdoor free play, transitions, and personal care routines. The teachers were interacting and meeting the developmental needs for each of the children. No new staff files were reviewed due to there being no new employees. Rated license requirements were reviewed to ensure compliance was maintained with current program and education components as well as the quality point. Violation Number Comment Rule 104 Center has not passed required sanitation inspection and received an approved or superior rating. The last sanitation inspection received is February 1, 2023. The teacher has requested a inspection from Environmental Health. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(b) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. On or before May 7, 2024, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail how and when was corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is considered legal documentation. If you email the compliance letter, it must be sent from the email address registered with the DCDEE (this serves as your signature) and the following information must be included: name, position, facility name, and facility ID number. An example is: Jane Doe, Administrator AAA Child Care ID # 12345678 Technical assistance was offered on the limiting whole group activities to shorter timeframes and allowing more free choice for those who are no longer interested in the activity. The attention span for children at any age differs as well as the learning styles. By limiting the whole group activities and allowing those who are no longer interested the choice to move on to another activity, you reduce the chance of disruptive behaviors occurring and reduce the risk of a child no longer enjoying activities such as reading because he or she has had to sit and listen to an extended story time and they may have become antsy and wanted to do another activity which may result in what could be considered a disruptive behavior. A few ideas that you can use to help encourage more participation in group activities are take a poll and get a census on the things that the children are interested in and would want to learn about during group time. Use creativity when conducting group activities. Such as choosing a book and having the children to come up with a title for the book just based on what they observe from the cover. Then have each child make up their own storyline for the book by having them give you a story or description of what they think is happening in the book just based off of the illustration. Also incorporate your lesson plan into the interest areas to encourage and promote more imaginative play.
