The provider assisted me with the visit. Your program currently operates with a three(3)-star license, issued 5/23/2022, earning 4 points in the education component, 2 points in the program standards component and 1 quality point for serving no more than two(2) children under the age of one(1). The last annual compliance visit was conducted 4/3/23. The family childcare home’s compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was ninety-eight percent as of 3/8/24. This facility is currently not owned by a corporation. Please contact me prior to any information changing regarding the owner of this facility. The contact information on the Division of Child Development & Early Education (DCDEE) website was reviewed and you stated that it is current. It is important to frequently check your email to remain informed about any new changes that have or may occur. Upon arrival one child was present. The child was engaged in freeplay. The toys were accessible on low-lying open shelving in the space designated for child care. The outdoor play area located behind the house consisted of a playhouse, push/pull cars and a swing set. Lunch consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, sliced carrots, pineapple chunks, and milk. The following violation was documented. Violation Number Comment Rule 706 Corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, and products under pressure in an aerosol dispenser and any substance that may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not kept in locked storage when children were in care. A container of Great Value wipes was located on the counter in the kitchen. .1719 (a)(7) Child care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. Technical Assistance: Storage of Hazardous Items – Hazardous cleaning supplies, including those kept under pressure in an aerosol can, as well as medications must be kept in locked storage. A container of Great Value disinfecting wipes were stored on the counter in the kitchen. The definition of locked storage requires that the lock be unlocked with some type of device such as a key or combination. Regular childproofing locks do not meet this requirement. Ensure that all cleaning supplies and other items labeled “Keep out of reach of children” are kept inaccessible while children are in care. This item was corrected during the visit. Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids-It’s time to enroll your family child care home in the Clean Classrooms for Carolina KidsTM program to identify and eliminate exposure to lead and asbestos hazards in building infrastructure. This program is an expansion of Clean Water for Carolina KidsTM, which previously tested all child care centers in the state for lead in water at drinking and food preparation taps. The provider assisted me with the visit. Your program currently operates with a three(3)-star license, issued 5/23/2022, earning 4 points in the education component, 2 points in the program standards component and 1 quality point for serving no more than two(2) children under the age of one(1). The last annual compliance visit was conducted 4/3/23. The family childcare home’s compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The following violation was documented. Violation Number Comment Rule 716 Electrical outlets not in use were not covered. An electrical outlet located on the wall by the microwave was not covered. 10A NCAC .1719(a)(27) Child care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before 9/27/2023, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail, how and when the violations were corrected. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. An electrical outlet located in the kitchen on the wall near microwave, was not protected by an outlet cover. All electrical outlets not in use that are in areas accessible to children must be protected with an outlet cover. This includes unused outlets on power strips. If you have questions about COVID-19, an exposure, or exclusion policies, contact the Child Care Health Consultant assigned to your county and/or your local health department. COVID Signage – On August 15, 2022, the governor lifted the “State of Emergency” status for North Carolina. As a result, you are no longer required to post the CORONA Virus Information Sheet on your main entrance door or the Health and Safety Certificate which verified that you agreed to meet the additional health and safety requirements during the pandemic.
