Currently, this facility operates with a Three-Star license issued on May 11, 2017. The center's last annual compliance visit was completed on January 2, 2025. The last sanitation inspection was completed on March 13, 2025, earning a “Approved” classification and “18” demerits. The last satisfactory fire inspection was completed on February 4, 2025, and was approved for day time care. S. Hinton, Assistant Director, was present and available to assist. Forty-three (43) children were present during the visit. Children were observed completing daily routine activities, free choice activities, and during outdoor play. Staff interacted with children in a positive manner. The center is owned by Stone Park Child Care #2, Inc. This corporation was found current/active in the North Carolina Secretary of State database. The following violations of child care requirements were documented during the visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. The fire inspection dated February 4, 2025 was not obtained within 12 months of the previous inspection dated January 7, 2024. was no 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) 840 All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. North Carolina child care administrators can now view and edit their facility’s staff roster in ABCMS, the DCDEE’s criminal background check system. This feature should be implemented to avoid violations. The training has been completed. However, all staff should be linked to the facility. A copy of the instructions was given to the provider during the visit. S. Hinton criminal background check expired January 22, 2025. Ms. Hinton may remain at the center if the violation is corrected within two weeks. A copy of the CBC letter should be submitted with the compliance letter. To ensure compliance with criminal background checks, printing the roster and posting it will help as a reminder to administration and staff when CBC are coming due. CLEAN WATER FOR US KIDS: The Clean Water for Carolina Kids status for lead in water is “analysis complete”. For the lead base paint and asbestos, the status is “section complete”. This information was verified in the clean water for US kids facility data. STAR RATED LICENSE (SRL)/QRIS: Hold harmless has been extended until the new QRIS is implemented (SB 425). Thirty five (35) children were present during the visit. Children were observed completing daily routine activities, free choice activities, and teacher directed activities. Staff interacted with children in a positive manner. This facility provides transportation during the summer. Limited transportation requirements were monitored during the visit. The bus/van used to transport children was at the other location, Stone Park Afterschool Gang. The center is owned by Stone Park Child Care #2, Inc. This corporation was found current/active in the North Carolina Secretary of State database. The following violations of child care requirements were documented during the visit. Staff records were not monitored. The staff and training worksheet was requested on November 1, 2024, to be submitted on November 15, 2024. The provider was notified that if an extension was needed, to notify me (the consultant). The worksheet was never received. An “other” visit will be completed to monitor staff records. VIOLATIONS CORRECTED DURING THE VISIT: A current activity plan for the toddler room was not posted for reference. This was corrected when staff completed and posted the lesson plan. A power strip in space #4 was not covered with safety plugs. This was corrected when the administrator removed the power strip from the classroom. The fire and lockdown drill log were incomplete. However, the administrator had the dates on the calendar and corrected the violation by completing the log during the visit. A bottle of disinfectant wipes and comet was accessible to children stored in a cabinet underneath the sink. This was corrected during the visit when staff removed the items from the classroom. 2024 ANNUAL LICENSE FEE: Invoices were emailed to facility addresses on file on November 30, 2024. Online payments were due by December 31, 2024. J. Pollard, administrator stated the fee was paid. CRIMNIAL BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS: A New feature links criminal background applications to facilities. To get started, complete the ABCMS Child Care Provider Portal Training in Moodle—a video tutorial followed by a few questions. CLEAN WATER FOR US KIDS: The Clean Water for Carolina Kids program is expanding to the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program. This is a legislatively mandated effort to address lead and asbestos hazards in North Carolina public schools, licensed child care centers, and licensed family child care homes. Participation allows facilities to meet all rule requirements for identified lead and asbestos hazards, as required by law. In the Clean Water for Carolina Kids facility data, results for lead water, lead based paint and asbestos is showing a “analysis complete” and “section complete” status. VIOLATIONS CORRECTED DURING THE VISIT: A current activity plan for the toddler room was not posted for reference. This was corrected when staff completed and posted the lesson plan. A power strip in space #4 was not covered with safety plugs. This was corrected when the administrator removed the power strip from the classroom. The fire and lockdown drill log were incomplete. However, the administrator had the dates on the calendar and corrected the violation by completing the log during the visit. A bottle of disinfectant wipes and comet was accessible to children stored in a cabinet underneath the sink. This was corrected during the visit when staff removed the items from the classroom. 2024 ANNUAL LICENSE FEE: Invoices were emailed to facility addresses on file on November 30, 2024. CLEAN WATER FOR US KIDS: The Clean Water for Carolina Kids program is expanding to the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program. This is a legislatively mandated effort to address lead and asbestos hazards in North Carolina public schools, licensed child care centers, and licensed family child care homes. Participation allows facilities to meet all rule requirements for identified lead and asbestos hazards, as required by law. In the Clean Water for Carolina Kids facility data, results for lead water, lead based paint and asbestos is showing a “analysis complete” and “section complete” status. Currently, this facility operates with a Three-Star license issued on May 11, 2017. The center's last annual compliance visit was completed on February 2, 2024. A checklist was used to note the requirements I monitored today. The last sanitation inspection was completed on July 2, 2024, earning a “Superior” classification and “13” demerits. The last satisfactory fire inspection was completed on January 7, 2024, and was approved for day time care. J. Pollard, Administrator, was present and available to assist. Thirty five (35) children were present during the visit. Children were observed completing daily routine activities, free choice activities, and teacher directed activities. Staff interacted with children in a positive manner. This facility provides transportation during the summer. Limited transportation requirements were monitored during the visit. The bus/van used to transport children was at the other location, Stone Park Afterschool Gang. The center is owned by Stone Park Child Care #2, Inc. This corporation was found current/active in the North Carolina Secretary of State database. The following violations of child care requirements were documented during the visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 301 Minimum staff/child ratios and group sizes for the number and ages of children in care were not met. A staff member in the toddler room, space #, left eight (8) one and two year old children with the other staff member alone when walking out the room.
