This facility is owned and operated by Graham County Public Schools. A computerized generated report of today’s visit was completed, reviewed with you, and signed by Sarah Upton, Child Care Consultant and also signed by Traci Burchfield, Lead Teacher, during the visit. An electronic signed copy of the visit summary was electronically emailed to Lacey Orr, Pre-K Supervisor, for signature as well. Ms. Orr, works of site and was not present during this visit. A copy of the visit summary was left on site today. Ms. Burchfield, accompanied me today during the walk through and was available to assist with questions and paperwork needed. The program’s annual compliance visit was conducted on February 08, 2024. The following items were monitored today: Supervision Staff Child Ratios CPR First Aid Special Training Criminal Record Checks Completed Emergency Medical Care Plan Administration of Medication Storage of Hazardous Substances Storage of Medication Adequate/Approved Space General Safety Discipline Program Records License Posted Permit Restrictions Upon my arrival I introduced myself to teachers in the classroom and explained the reason for my visit. Children were observed during gross motor play outside and preparing for nap. Interactions observed between teachers and children were positive and helpful No new teachers have been hired since your last Annual Compliance. The last fire drill was practiced on 05/02/2024. The last lockdown drill was concucted on The last fire inspection received was dated o5/02/2023. A new inspection is due by the end of May 2024. Please send me the Fire Inspection once it is completed. The last sanitation inspection was completed on 05/06/2024 with four (4) demerits for a superior rating. The Emergency Medical Care Plan is posted and current. The incident log is in use and maintained. The following violations written during this visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 1811 Shelter-in-place or lockdown drills were not practiced every three months and/or drill record was incomplete. The last recorded lockdown drill was dated 01/24/24. It was reported today that a drill was conducted on 04/26/24 but was not recorded. .0604(u);.0302(d)(8) Technical Assistance: Item 1811 be sure to record the date of your shelter-in-place or lockdown drill when they are conducted on the Emergency Drill Form According to 10A NCAC 09 .0604 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILD CARE CENTERS (u) A "shelter in place drill" or "lockdown drill" as defined in 10A NCAC 09 .0102 shall be conducted at least every three months and records shall be maintained as required by 10A NCAC 09 .0302(d)(8). Corrective Action Plan: The violation written today was corrected during the visit by Ms. Burchfield filling in the missing date. Rated License Information: Today, we discussed the following: - We discussed that you are a part of Cohort 2 for rated license reassessments. The program’s year of preparation will begin 7/1/2024 and end 6/30/2025. The assessment year will begin 7/1/2025 and end 6/30/2026. Each staff member will need to update their WORKS account to reflect their most recently completed education. Also, be sure to take advantage of the preparation year assessment. The benefits of taking advantage to the preparation year assessment are: the scores do not have to count, assessment results can help build understanding of the current program situations, and programs can choose to have additional assessments later for licensure. Please review the Preparation Year: Environment Rating Scale Assessment and Preparation Year: Activities and Ideas for cohort 1, 2, and 3 resources that I emailed to you today.
