Limited child care requirements pertinent to this visit type were monitored. The facility operates with a Five Star Child Care License issued September 3, 2020, earning 6 points in Education Standards, 6 points in Program Standards (Enhanced Space & Ratios), and 1 Quality Point. The last annual compliance visit was conducted May 25, 2025. As of February 6, 2026, your facility has an 18-month compliance history of 93%. Child Care programs are expected to always achieve and maintain compliance and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The center is owned by New Beginnings Child Care, Inc. As of today, the corporation is current and active with the NC Secretary of State. Fire Inspection – 10/22/2025 – Approved for day time care only - Satisfactory Sanitation – 07/02/2025 – 8 Demerits – Superior Assistant Administrator, Tabatha Duran, was present today and accompanied me as I conducted a walkthrough and observations of the facility. Administrator, Dina Jarman, was not present during this visit. There were seven classrooms operating today; ninety-five children enrolled and sixty-two children present, ranging in age from infants to 5 years old. All approved indoor spaces were monitored today. The renovations for the outdoor play area was completed on Friday, February 6, 2026. There were two trees removed and a drainage system installed. With the trees removed, ensure adequate shade is provided for the outdoor play areas. New mulch and sand has also been ordered for the outdoor play areas. In space #2, one infant was observed sleeping in a crib and other infants were engaged in tummy time, exploring their environment by crawling and cruising the furniture, playing with age-appropriate materials, and one child was sleeping. Infant feeding charts are current and safe sleep checks were completed, recorded, and maintained as required. The caregivers were interacting with and meeting the developmental needs of each of the children. Proper handwashing techniques and diaper changing procedures were observed. The NC PreK students in space #1 and preschool children in space #7 (3-School) were observed eating lunch. Lunch consisted of beefaroni, corn, apple sauce, and milk. NC PreK Monitoring - The NC Pre-K requirements in Section .3000 of the Child Care Rules were monitored for compliance today. Staff-child ratios and maximum group sizes required in Child Care Rule 10A NCAC 09 .3009 were verified in compliance. Children in this program attend from 8:30am to 3:00pm, meeting the instructional day requirement of 6.5 hours. This NC Pre-K program uses Creative Curriculum, ASQ Developmental screening, and Teaching Strategies Gold for their ongoing assessments. Developmental screenings and health assessments including vision, hearing, and dental screenings were on file for all NC Pre-K children’s files reviewed. Evidence of on-going assessments was observed in children’s files and on the Teaching Strategies GOLD website. The NC Pre-K Contracting Agency has conducted visits and the NC Pre-K Site Monitoring Tool for 2025-2026 was completed and signed by Autumn Bishop, Chief Early Childhood Education Program Officer. All staff met NC Pre-K education requirements. In spaces #3, #4, and #5, toddlers and preschool children were finishing up lunch and preparing for nap/rest time. All children rested on individual cots with blankets, lights turned off, and soft music played making environment conducive for nap/rest time. Space #6 is used for school-age children; they were not present during the visit. Staff/child ratios were in compliance. All children were adequately supervised. Staff in all classrooms were observed interacting with children in a positive and nurturing manner Health & Safety Training - Staff members, who have been employed for at least one year and new employees have completed Health and Safety trainings as outlined in Child Care Rule 10A NCAC 09 .1102. Ensure this information is maintained on file. New staff must complete these trainings within the first year of being hired and must be renewed every five years. Completing, refreshing, and updating the required Health and Safety Training increases your awareness and knowledge regarding child development and safety. Children’s records were not monitored today. There were nineteen staff members employed at this facility. There were four new staff members hired since the last annual compliance visit. New staff files were reviewed today. Required information and trainings for existing staff were also monitored. During today's visit child care requirements monitored for compliance included supervision, staff/child ratio, CPR and First Aid, Criminal Record Checks, storage of hazardous substances and medications, approved space, posting of the license, and other applicable requirements. The following violations were observed and documented today. All violations must be corrected immediately; one violation was corrected during the visit. Continued compliance with applicable child care requirements is always required. Violation Number Comment Rule 428 A current activity plan was not posted for each group of children for reference. This information was not available for space #5 and space #6. GS 110-91(12); .0508(a) 1048 All staff did not successfully complete certification in First Aid appropriate to the age of children in care. Verification of staff completion of First Aid training from an approved training organization was not in the staff file. A staff member was hired on September 10, 2025 and verification of successful completion of FA within 90 days of employment was not available. .1102(c) 1049 All staff did not successfully complete certification in CPR training appropriate to the age of the children in care. A signed and dated letter of compliance must be received February 23, 2026, describing how the violation was corrected and how compliance will be maintained in the future. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. A time frame is established to allow you time for submitting your compliance letter. This timeframe is not intended to be used as a guide for correcting violations, as they should be corrected immediately. Technical Assistance regarding violations cited: Activity plans – This violation was corrected during the visit. Each classroom must have a current activity plan. The activity plan shall include activities intended to stimulate the following developmental domains, in accordance with North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development, available on the Division's website at http://ncchildcare.nc.gov/providers/pv_foundations.asp: (1) emotional and social development; (2) health and physical development; (3) approaches to play and learning; (4) language development and communication; and (5) cognitive development. Activity plans are detailed plans which outline activities that will encourage children’s growth and development. The activities outlined on the activity plan will typically occur during the “Activity Center” times indicated on the daily schedule. They must be posted for easy reference by caregivers and parents. CPR/FA All staff who provide direct care or accompany children when they are off premises shall successfully complete certification in CPR and First Aid appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training must be completed within 90 days of employment, as evidenced by a certificate or card from an approved training organization. First Aid training must be renewed on or before expiration of the certification. "Successfully completed" is defined as demonstrating competency, as evaluated by the instructor. Verification of each required staff member's completion of this course from an approved training organization shall be maintained in the staff member's file in the center. For the health and safety of the children, all staff members are required to obtain CPR and First Aid certification and keep it current. Renewing this certification is crucial for staff to be refreshed in first aid and other lifesaving techniques as well as receive the most up to date information. I suggest you set a reminder on your calendar to keep track of expiration dates and/or seek out training from additional approved agencies when staff is not able to attend courses offered locally or at the facility. Note – The staff member hired on 09/10/2025 did not have verification of successful completion of CPR/FA by 12/10/2025. However, Ms. Duran stated staff member did complete CPR/FA in a class offered at the facility on 01/26/2026; however, there was no verification on file and available for review. Choosing a Pathway to the Stars: Your facility was issued a Five-Star License on September 3, 2020. Today, I completed a QRIS Conversation Template for your facility. You reported that your facility is interested in pursuing Pathway #2, Classroom and Instructional Quality and will submit your application to my by July 2026. Pathway 2 – Classroom and Instructional Quality: You are eligible for this pathway, which allows your program to demonstrate quality through smaller groups of children, child-focused planning, curriculum implementation, child observations, training and coaching for staff, CQI plans, and family engagement. The facility will need to complete the Family and Community Engagement Standards Worksheet selecting the applicable items. Items selected must be verifiable. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): A CQI plan will be completed for the facility and each staff member. The CQI Plan includes the following: Identification of goal(s), Necessary resources, supports and actions needed to accomplish the goal(s). Document the reason for the goal(s), Annual review of efforts toward completion of the goal(s). The application forms are available on the DCDEE website under Provider Documents and Forms, and the QRIS modernization page. Staff Education – The facility will need to complete and submit the Staff Information and Education Worksheet to me no later than June 30, 2026. Once all your staff’s education has been evaluated, your facility will earn their Star Rated License based on the following: 50% of Lead Teachers and 50% of other educators. (“Educator” means all classroom teaching staff and administrative positions, including education coordinators, curriculum specialists and any staff who have responsibility for planning, caregiving, mentoring or training. To count as an educator meeting 50% of the education standards, an individual must meet the requirements of a position and work on-site, full-time.) Ensure all information and education has been submitted to DCDEE WORKS for all staff members as you hire new staff or as existing staff complete additional coursework. This is of vital importance as the information in WORKS for your staff will determine what the star level of the facility’s education. Your license will not be delayed due to incomplete or unprocessed education information. It typically takes WORKS 4-6 weeks to complete an evaluation. NCDHHS encourages North Carolinians to get vaccinated for the strongest protection and follow everyday steps like handwashing and staying home when sick. The facility operates with a Five Star Child Care License issued September 3, 2020, earning 6 points in Education Standards, 6 points in Program Standards (Enhanced Space & Ratios), and 1 Quality Point. The last annual compliance visit was conducted May 25, 2025. As of February 6, 2026, your facility has an 18-month compliance history of 93%. Child Care programs are expected to always achieve and maintain compliance and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. There were seven classrooms operating today; ninety-five children enrolled and sixty-two children present, ranging in age from infants to 5 years old. All approved indoor spaces were monitored today. The renovations for the outdoor play area was completed on Friday, February 6, 2026. There were two trees removed and a drainage system installed. With the trees removed, ensure adequate shade is provided for the outdoor play areas. New mulch and sand has also been ordered for the outdoor play areas. In space #2, one infant was observed sleeping in a crib and other infants were engaged in tummy time, exploring their environment by crawling and cruising the furniture, playing with age-appropriate materials, and one child was sleeping. Infant feeding charts are current and safe sleep checks were completed, recorded, and maintained as required. The caregivers were interacting with and meeting the developmental needs of each of the children. Proper handwashing techniques and diaper changing procedures were observed. The NC PreK students in space #1 and preschool children in space #7 (3-School) were observed eating lunch. Lunch consisted of beefaroni, corn, apple sauce, and milk. NC PreK Monitoring - The NC Pre-K requirements in Section .3000 of the Child Care Rules were monitored for compliance today. Staff-child ratios and maximum group sizes required in Child Care Rule 10A NCAC 09 .3009 were verified in compliance. Children in this program attend from 8:30am to 3:00pm, meeting the instructional day requirement of 6.5 hours. This NC Pre-K program uses Creative Curriculum, ASQ Developmental screening, and Teaching Strategies Gold for their ongoing assessments. Developmental screenings and health assessments including vision, hearing, and dental screenings were on file for all NC Pre-K children’s files reviewed. Evidence of on-going assessments was observed in children’s files and on the Teaching Strategies GOLD website. The NC Pre-K Contracting Agency has conducted visits and the NC Pre-K Site Monitoring Tool for 2025-2026 was completed and signed by Autumn Bishop, Chief Early Childhood Education Program Officer. All staff met NC Pre-K education requirements. In spaces #3, #4, and #5, toddlers and preschool children were finishing up lunch and preparing for nap/rest time. All children rested on individual cots with blankets, lights turned off, and soft music played making environment conducive for nap/rest time. Space #6 is used for school-age children; they were not present during the visit. Staff/child ratios were in compliance. All children were adequately supervised. Limited monitoring of child care requirements occurred during today’s visit. Child Care Consultant, Natalie Pond, accompanied and assisted with today's visit. The facility operates with a Five Star Child Care License issued September 3, 2020 earning 6 points in Education Standards 6 points in Program Standards (Enhanced Space & Ratios), and 1 Quality Point. The last annual compliance visit was conducted May 25, 2025. As of September 15, 2025, your facility has an 18-month compliance history of 90%. Child Care programs are expected to always achieve and maintain compliance and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The center is owned by New Beginnings Child Care, Inc. As of today, the corporation is current and active with the NC Secretary of State. Fire Inspection – 10/23/2024 – Approved for day time care only - Satisfactory Sanitation – 07/02/2025 – 8 Demerits – Superior Assistant Administrator, Tabatha Duran, was present today and accompanied Ms. Pond as she completed a walkthrough of the facility. Administrator, Dina Jarman, was not present. Today, there were seven classrooms operating today, sixty five children present, ranging in age from infants to 5 years old. Infants received care based on their individual needs. Infants were observed on the floor exploring their environment safely. All preschool children were observed napping in their assigned space with covered cots and blankets; the lights were dimmed. Staff/child ratios were in compliance in all classrooms. All children were adequately supervised. Caregivers interacted with children in a positive and appropriate manner. The allegation of this report was specific to the classroom for two-year-old children. The allegation was discussed with Ms. Duran and staff member for the classroom for two-year-old children, A. Thomas. You were each given the opportunity to state your perceptions of the allegation and to share any pertinent information. Allegation There is a concern that inappropriate discipline was used. A self-report was made to the Division by Ms. Jarman on September 15, 2025. Ms. Jarman reported that a teacher for the classroom for two-year-old children popped a child on their bottom. This incident occurred during nap time as the teacher was changing the child’s diaper. The lead teacher of the classroom for two-year-old children witnessed the incident and reported it to Ms. Jarman. Ms. Jarman called teacher into the office on Friday, September 12, 2025, and teacher admitted to popping child on their bottom after child slapped her in the face. The teacher stated that she had changed child’s diaper and was trying to get him to lay down on his cot when the child slapped her in the face and she reacted by popping his bottom. Ms. Jarman reported that there were no marks on the child’s bottom. The teacher was terminated immediately; she had been employed since September 2, 2025. Ms. Jarman notified the parents of the incident and child remains in care. This facility does have cameras. Video footage was not reviewed today. Based on staff interviews, information received, and my investigation, this allegation is confirmed. Children cannot be handled roughly at any time by anyone. You cannot hit, yank, push, and/or grab children. Child care rules not only prohibit the use of inappropriate discipline but require all children be attended to in a nurturing and appropriate manner. This can only be achieved when staff members recognize and accept age-appropriate behaviors and respond in ways consistent with what is developmentally appropriate for each child. Children should be spoken to in a calm, respectful voice always. Each child must be attended to in a nurturing and appropriate manner, and in keeping with the child's developmental needs. No form of corporal punishment or rough handling is ever acceptable. No child may be yelled at, threatened, shamed, humiliated, bullied or subjected to sarcastic remarks or profanity. it is important to remember to engage in one-to-one interactions with children, get on the child’s level for face-to-face interactions, use a pleasant, calm voice and simple language, provide warm, responsive physical contact, help children understand classroom expectations, redirect children when they engage in challenging behavior, listen to children and encourage them to listen to others, and acknowledge children for their accomplishments and efforts. Positive interactions between children and the caregiver are fundamental to quality child care. Safety starts in the classroom. Children should feel and be safe everywhere at your facility—in the rest rooms, hallways, on field trips, and on the playground. Feeling safe makes learning possible. Caregivers can help a child feel safe, secure, and supported by acknowledging and responding sensitively to children's cues/signals and supporting children's secure attachment through consistent and warm nurturing relationships. Understanding the stages of children’s development is critical; for example, those that cry may not have the verbal ability to express their needs and/or wants; or, they may not have the skills yet to do so. Recognizing this will minimize staff members’ tendencies to become frustrated and use harsh tones or verbal directives with young children who are simply engaging in age-appropriate behaviors. Once you understand that certain challenging behaviors are “typical,” it should allow you to respond in a nurturing and appropriate manner. You must keep your frustration in check by reminding yourself that children are not born knowing how to control and process their emotions; this is learned through caregiver interactions, guidance, and experience over time. Help toddlers navigate their emotions. Recognize and name feelings, then offer guidance on how to manage them. Suggest jumping up and down or visiting the cozy area. Empathize with their feelings and provide acceptable choices to help them feel in control. Comfort them with warm, physical contact, or give them a safe space to work through their negative emotions. By creating and maintaining a safe environment, you provide children with the security they need to develop. You also provide families with the peace of mind they deserve to adequately focus on work or other life needs. During today’s visit, Ms. Duran advised that prior to this incident, the excerpt from the handbook regarding appropriate procedures for managing student behaviors and discipline was reviewed with all staff on September 3, 2025. On September 11, 2025, a staff meeting was held, and Ms. Duran held a training with all staff entitled, “Positive Guidance & Interactions with Children.” All staff members signed a roster verifying their attendance and acknowledgement of their review of the information at both meetings. The information was reviewed by me during today’s visit and a copy received. There was one violation cited today. All violations must be corrected immediately. Continued compliance with applicable child care requirements is always required. The last fire inspection was conducted October 23, 2024, and your facility was approved for daytime care only. The program’s compliance history was 86% percent as of June 5, 2023. The NC Secretary of State website was reviewed on May 27, 2025, and the center was listed as current- active. You, Tabatha Duran, assistant director, was present today and accompanied me during the visit. Dina Jarman, center administrator, was out. Today, there were seven classrooms operating today, sixty children present, ranging in age from infants to 5 years old. A walkthrough and observations were conducted, and all approved indoor and outdoor spaces were monitored today. A variety of age-appropriate learning materials were observed in each classroom. There were three infants present with two staff members. Two of the four infants enrolled were present. One was having a diaper change while the other infant was sitting and playing in an exersuacer. Later, both infants were on the floor engaged in exploration play. One-year-old children were transitioning outdoors for free play. While outside they rode or push small riding toys, sat down on the turf and played, walked around, and other age appropriate activities. The two groups of two- and three-year-olds were outside engaged in play in activities such as swinging, running around, digging in the sand, playing with holla hoops. The 3 School group of children were engaged in free play activities such as building a large structure with foam blocks, sand art, putting together a floor puzzle, pretending to cook eggs, and other age-appropriate activities. The school agers were at school today. NCPRE-K Information: I completed the monitoring of the NC Pre-K requirements during today's visit. The classroom operates 8:30am-3pm. I monitored a selection of children’s files for completed health assessments. A sample portfolio was observed where writing samples, self-portraits, writing their names and many other examples were observed. Lesson plans were current and the theme ‘Plants’. Staff-child ratios and maximum group sizes required in Child Care Rule 10A NCAC 09 .3009 were verified in compliance. The program follows the Onslow County school calendar. The one group of NC Pre-K were engaged in a circle time activity where they discussed the difference between ‘sweet and tart’. You explained that upon hire, you provide the staff member with an employment guide that indicates outlines the employees’ requirements such as information regarding criminal background checks, medical, and training requirements. You provided a copy of the guide to me. You feel the employees should be responsible for completing these requirements. You are aware there are a few staff members that need CPR and First Aid Certification. When an employee needs CPR and First Aid Certification, you arrange the training with your Regional Manager, as she is a trainer. You plan to arrange a CPR/First Aid training course immediately. Files for all staff members that were employed since the last annual compliance visit, June 6, 2024, were reviewed. Based on the file review, there are two staff members that have not completed CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment. One staff member was employed October 2023 and the other staff member was employed on January 2024. Based on the reporter’s information, staff members’ statements, and my investigation is substantiated. Based on Substantiated complaint allegation, an administrative action may be issued. On or before June 10, 2024, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail, how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is considered legal documentation. For the health and safety of the children, all staff members are required to obtain CPR and First Aid certification and keep it current. Renewing this certification is crucial for staff to be refreshed in first aid and other lifesaving techniques as well as receive the most up to date information. I suggest you arrange a training quarterly so all new staff can participate and/or set a reminder on your calendar to keep track of expiration dates and/or seek out training from additional approved agencies when staff is not able to attend courses offered locally or at the facility. My computer was not working during the visit; therefore, the visit summary was completed once I had access to a computer and the Regulatory System. This facility operates with a new Notice of Compliance since July 1, 2020. The last annual compliance visit was conducted June 6, 2023. The center completed the last Fire Inspection on October 10, 2023, the center was approved for daytime care only. The latest sanitation inspection was completed August 22, 2023. The center's compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was 84% percent as of April 16, 2024. The NC Secretary of State website was reviewed on April 17, 2024 and New Beginnings Child Care, Inc was listed as current-active. You, Dina Jarman, center administrator, was present today. Stephanie Swartz, office support, accompanied me during the walk through and observations. There were seven classrooms operating today, 102 children were enrolled and seventy-two children present, ranging in age from 5 months to 5 years old. All children were appropriately supervised. All approved indoor and outdoor spaces were monitored today. A variety of age-appropriate learning materials were observed in each classroom. Infants received care based on individual need, as three infants were napping. The other two infants not engaged in napping routines were observed playing on the carpeted area with soft toys or playing in an exersaucer while staff sat on the floor and monitored supervision. Infant safe sleep checks were monitored and found to be in compliance. One-year-old children were transitioning outdoors for play. They were pushing balls, riding the rocking horse, and riding a car. Three other groups were outdoors engaged in free play activities such as climbing, sliding, digging in sand, running around, and swinging. The two older groups of preschoolers were engaged in indoor free play activities such as molding with playdough, building with wood blocks, stacking Legos, pretending cooking and other age appropriate activities. Lunch was served and consisted of meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, pineapple, saltine crackers, and milk. Technical Assistance: Encourage you to inventory your outside materials to ensure they promote a variety of gross motor activities, including throwing, hitting, catching, pulling, balancing, pedaling, digging, pouring, stacking, climbing, rolling, sliding, jumping, and running. Outside toys appropriate for toddlers include: buckets for dumping and filling, large plastic spoons for grasping, tunnels, balls, boxes, textured cans for rolling and stacking, blocks, push/pull toys, wheeled toys, a balance board, brooms, plastic shovels, rakes and hoes, rocky boat with steps on the other side, a sand box (with cover), water tub for supervised play, small benches, a low climber, etc. Create an outdoor reading area with cozy seating (blankets or benches) baskets of books, an alphabet fishing game, and some washable puppets. Create a music area on the playgrounds by hanging rustproof pots, pans, lids and plastic serving spoons on the fence. Galvanized metal tubs turned upside down make great drums. Additional noisemakers can be created by filling plastic soda bottles with various items (hot glue the lids). Adding colored ribbons or plastic streamers to the music area would encourage interpretive movement. To enhance children’s cognitive development, add “sciencing” items to the outdoor play area, and create raised gardens and fill your birdfeeders. You can also add collections of shells, pieces of wood, rocks and leaves; they can serve as play food outside and can be kept in clear plastic containers with screw on lids. Just ensure the shells and rocks are large enough that they are not choking hazards for the toddlers and twos. In addition, you discussed adding birdhouses and butterfly houses on the playground. Encourage you to continue adding artificial turf on the large playground. Violation Number Comment Rule 618 Diaper changing surfaces were not kept free of storage. In classroom space #3, a staff members cup, pencils, pens, clothes, socks, tape diaper ointment, etc. was observed on the diaper changing table. 15A NCAC 18A .2819(b) 841 Medications including prescription and non-prescription items were not stored in a locked cabinet or other locked container. In classrooms space #3, a container of Aquaphor was observed on the diaper changing table accessible to the children in care. 15A NCAC 18A .2820(d) 9999 Purses and other personal effects belonging to child care center employees shall be kept inaccessible to children. In classroom space #4, a staff member's purse/bag was observed on the floor accessible to the children in care. Violations were documented and were corrected during the visit. Child Care programs are expected to always achieve and maintain compliance with child care rules, and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. Your compliance percentage has dropped in a lower number bracket, ensure you are monitoring for compliance. Technical Assistance: A violation related to sanitation in child care rules or sanitation rules- rule reference .2819 and .2820- Diapering, toileting, and hand washing are important routines in child care, and those areas of the child care classroom are important parts of children’s experience in child care. It’s important to keep the diaper changing area clean and sanitary to protect your baby from germs. Here are some tips: Store only necessary items on the table to minimize clutter and make cleaning easier and sanitary, disinfect the table regularly, especially after each use, don’t store items on the table, wash your hands before and after changing diapers. Encourage you to review sanitation rules with staff. Remind staff to keep areas clean to maintain healthy environments. In classrooms space #3, a container of Aquaphor was observed on the diaper changing table accessible to the children in care. Non-prescription medication items must be stored in a locked storage or above 5 feet from the floor. Two staff have been hired since the last monitoring visit. The records for these staff were reviewed for minimum licensing requirements. Corrections- Child care center premises shall be kept clean, in good repair, and free of peeling, flaking, or chalking paint. You stated you will begin painting and making the temporary corrections. Rules- North Carolina Child Care Commission adopted child care rule changes in January 2024. Changes relate to definitions; lead and asbestos for centers and family child care homes; building requirements for family child care homes; multi-unit child care centers; and criminal background checks. Some of these rule changes may impact your facility. Please ensure you are using the updated January 2024 rule book, and you view information in the DCDEE Moodle. Water Test- It’s time to enroll your facility in the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program to identify and eliminate exposure to lead and asbestos hazards in building infrastructure. This program is an expansion of Clean Water for Carolina Kids, which previously tested all child care centers in the state for lead in water at drinking and food preparation taps. As this is a legislatively mandated effort, facilities are required to meet rule requirements to have tap water tested every three years and to have inspections for lead paint and asbestos if applicable. Steps: 1. Sign Up – Pre-enrollment webinars are available at cleanwaterforUSkids.org/carolina or paste https://bit.ly/3CK-webinar into your web browser to see available dates and times for the next month. 2.
