An example is: Jane Doe, Administrator AAA Child Care ID # 12345678 TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: Record Keeping Record keeping is one of the most time-consuming tasks associated with operating a child care program. It is an important part of licensure. Review children’s and your files often to ensure the program is maintaining accurate licensing records. Organization and completeness of records is important to ensure easy access to information in emergency situations. You must allow time to review all necessary documentation prior to parents leaving forms with you, to ensure accuracy. Using a checklist for children, provider, and program records will you track documents. All checklists are available on the DCDEE website under the Provider tab and provider documents links. You explained you thought you had the documents missing from the children’s records. However, you explained you did not do outdoor checks of hazards nor did the daily attendance for all the children. Infant-Toddler Safe Sleep and SIDS Reduction Training (ITSS/SIDS): Although the cause of many sudden infant deaths may not be known, researchers believe that some infants develop in a manner that makes it challenging for them to be aroused or to breathe when they experience a life-threatening challenge during sleep. Use of safe sleep policies, continued education of parents/guardians, expanded training efforts for child care professionals, statewide regulations and mandates, and increased monitoring and observation of infants while they are sleeping are critical to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in child care. You may visit www.healthychildcarenc.org NC Childcare Health and Safety Resource Center for a list of approved ITS-SIDS trainers. The training must be completed every three years from the last date it was completed. Today you explained you took the training in 2024 but you could not locate proof. We also discussed you did not comply with monitoring sleeping infant’s sleep positions every 15 minutes and keeping documentation. You may contact me if you need assistance with locating sample sleep charts to use for documentation. You may also use pen and paper. LEAD IN WATER, LEAD IN PAINT, AND ASBESTOS: The Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program is designed to identify and eliminate exposure to lead and asbestos hazards in child care spaces.
