Name of Operation: ROGERS LANE ELEMENTARY Facility ID: 92003649 Consultant: ANTIONETTE WILLIAMS Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 2/29/2024 Number Present: 29 Completed Date: 2/29/2024 Age: From 4 To 5 Total Minutes: 100 Time In: 10:25 AM Time Out: 12:05 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor your program for compliance with applicable child care requirements for an annual compliance visit, including compliance with requirements located in Child Care Rule Section .3000 in all spaces where children participating in the NC Pre-K program are cared for. Your program currently operates with a Five-Star license. Your program was also monitored for compliance with implementing an approved curriculum as required for all four- and five-star licensed facilities where four-year-old children are enrolled. Today’s visit was conducted with both, Ms. Barryman and Ms. Zittle, Lead Teachers. I monitored two classrooms in use for compliance with supervision, and staff interaction/discipline. The NC Pre-K requirements in section .3000 of the childcare rules were monitored for compliance. Staff-child ratios and maximum group sizes required in Child Care Rule 10A NCAC 09 .3009 were verified in compliance. Children enrolled played in activity areas, participated in independent art activities, interacted with staff in small group activities, and participated in large group time which include music activities. Children played outside and prepared for lunch. Proper hand washing techniques was observed. The facility was monitored for health and safety requirements both indoors and outdoors. The program requirements, along with equipment and furnishings were also observed. Compliance with staff records was documented by you and a sampling of your staff records and children’s records were reviewed today. One violation regarding children records was documented. A checklist was also used to monitor compliance today. The last annual compliance visit was conducted 9/15/23. The sanitation and fire inspections were current. NC PRE-K REQUIREMENTS: The site monitoring tool was observed. You use the Brigance screenings. The center uses the Teaching Strategies Gold instrument to document evidence of children's ongoing progress. The checkpoint assessments are conducted three times per year: at the beginning, middle and end of the school year. Parent conferences are held throughout the year. NC Pre-K requirements complied. Violation Number Comment Rule 1317 Authorization for emergency medical care information was not signed by child's parent. Authorization for emergency medical care was not signed by the child's parent for two children. .0802(d) The following violation was cited: Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before 3/15/2024, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is legal documentation. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. We specifically discussed the signature giving authorization to obtain medical attention aids to ensure children can receive necessary care when parents cannot be reached. Updates/Resources: Today I discussed information regarding Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program to identify and eliminate exposure to lead and asbestos hazards in child care. Visit cleanwaterforuskids.org/Carolina to sign up and get more information. Funding may be available to assist programs needing abatement. Make sure you are using the most recent child care requirements dated January 1, 2024. You may access the newest version on DCDEE website. Health and Safety Training – Be sure staff that are required to complete the health and safety trainings this year completes them. You may use MOODLE on DCDEE website or you may use other trainings that meet the health and safety training areas. The North Carolina Health and Safety Resource Center offers a variety of training that may be conducted onsite at your facility or virtually. For a list of trainings and resources, you may visit them at https://healthychildcare.unc.edu/. At the completion of today’s visit, the visit was reviewed with you. Due to printer issues, a copy was not able to be left with you. A copy of the visit summary was sent to you after the visit.
