Upon arrival, I was greeted by the provider, Julie Hines. You assisted me with the visit. I completed a general walk through of the children's space, kitchen area, outdoor space and bathroom. At the time of arrival there were 6 children present. Mrs. Hines contacted a parent to pick up their child. So the rest of the visit there was 5 children present. The children were observed playing with materials, eating a snack, drinking a bottle and interacting with the provider. LICENSE STATUS Currently this Family Childcare Home (FCCH) operates with a four-star license issued 2/11/19. This FCCH is in cohort 2. The preparation year is June 30, 2024 and the assessment year is June 30, 2025. INSPECTIONS I reviewed required inspections including fire drills, emergency drills, and outdoor inspections. All inspections were found to be in compliance. DESIGNATED CHILDREN’S SPACE The children’s space is located in to the right as you enter the home. In the children’s space, there are a variety of manipulatives, pretend play toys, books and art materials for the children to explore throughout the day. The provider uses a changing mat for children who are still diapering and the bathroom is located in the in the adjacent room near the children’s space. Mats and pack-n-play are used for nap time. MONITORING During this visit, a full assessment of Child Care Requirements was conducted. A checklist was used to note the requirements monitored today. All spaces were monitored for supervision, staff/child ratios, materials, equipment and required postings. The following violations were observed and documented: Violation Number Comment Rule 101 Number of children exceeded number allowed. Upon arrival there were six (6) preschool aged children present. GS 110-91(7)(b) & 110-86(3)(b) 910 Copy of each child's health assessment, including the operator's own preschool child(ren), was not on file within 30 days of enrollment. Two children were missing the health assessment (medical) form. GS 110-91(1); 10A NCAC 09.1721(a)(1) Please mail or email your letter of compliance by June 11, 2024. Any violations documented during visits to your program may have an impact on the total compliance history score and cause your score to drop below the mandated level. **Prior to today’s visit, the compliance history score for the center was 99%. Any violations cited during today's visit may affect this percentage. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE **We discussed the FCCH capacity requirements. I stated you cannot take additional preschool once you have five children present. However, we discussed part time children. You asked if you have a child leave at 12pm, can a different child come in. I said yes as long they don’t overlap time. **You were aware that the two children were missing their medical reports. You said you thought you already had it but might have misplaced it. You sent home a new form and a reminder to the parents during today's visit. AGENCY UPDATES WATER TESTING Currently, there is funding for FCCH to get their water, paint and asbestos tested for lead for free. You stated you already had the testing completed.
