Upon arrival, I was greeted by the provider Valerie Jones and she assisted me with the visit. I completed a general walk through of the children's space and bathroom area. At the time of visit, there were four (4) children present. The children were observed playing with materials, interacting with the provider and transitioning to outside. LICENSE STATUS Currently this Family Childcare Home (FCCH) operates with a four-star license issued 9/29/2023. INSPECTIONS I reviewed required inspections including fire drills, emergency drills, and outdoor inspections and were found to be in compliance. DESIGNATED CHILDREN’S SPACE The child care space is located in the dining room of the home. The children’s space has a variety of manipulatives, pretend play toys, books, and art material available. The bathroom is located to the right just past the child care space and is accessible to children who are potty trained. A changing mat is located in the laundry room which is connected to the children’s space. MONITORING During today’s visit, a partial assessment was conducted, monitoring all space occupied by the children, including the outdoor play environment. Household qualification letters and trainings were reviewed. Spaces were monitored for supervision, capacity, materials, and equipment. One violation was documented: Violation Number Comment Rule 1831 A valid qualification letter was not on file and available for review at the facility. The provider's household member (husband) letter expired 2/2026. G.S. 110-90.2 (b) & (d) & .2703(e) .1702(b)(1) Please mail or email your letter of compliance by April 15, 2026. Any violations documented during visits to your program may have an impact on the total compliance history score and cause your score to drop below the mandated level. **Prior to today’s visit, the compliance history score for the center was 100%. Any violations cited during today's visit may affect this percentage. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE/CONSULTATION You are due for CPR/first aid. You stated you have been sick and you are looking for a class. Please send me your certificate once completed. RATED LICENSE We discussed the QRIS and new Rated License Pathway 2-classroom and instructional quality. We went over the requirements for Pathway 2 in detail and you plan to be ready to update your license by July/August 2026. I suggested starting a QRIS notebook so I can review requirements. I verified that you use creative curriculum and creative curriculum formative assessments. WATER LEAD and ASBESTOS TESTING >>It is required that your FCCH is free from lead and asbestos. You must complete a webinar and provide information on your home through https://www.cleanwaterforuskids.org/en/carolina/ and RTI. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the provider Valeria Jones. You assisted me with the visit. I completed a general walk through of the children's space, kitchen area, outdoor space and bathroom. LICENSE STATUS Currently, this Family Child Care Home (FCCH) operates with a four star license issued October 9, 2018. This FCCH is in Cohort 1. INSPECTIONS I reviewed required inspections including fire drills, emergency drills, and outdoor inspections. All inspections were found to be in compliance. DESIGNATED CHILDREN’S SPACE The child care space is located in a the kitchen/dining room of the home. The children’s space has a variety of manipulatives, pretend play toys, books, and art material available. The bathroom is located to the right just past the child care space and is accessible to children who are potty trained. A changing mat is located in the laundry room which is connected to the children’s space. Mats and pack-n-play are used for nap/rest. MONITORING During this visit, a full assessment of Child Care Requirements was conducted. A checklist was used to note the requirements monitored today. All spaces were monitored for supervision, capacity, materials, equipment and required postings. The checklist will be provided at the end of the visit. ANNUAL IN-SERVICE TRAININGS This provider’s annual in-service calendar dates are January 1st-December 31st. The following violation was observed and documented: Violation Number Comment Rule 306 At least one 5 lb 2-A:10-B:C type fire extinguisher was not readily accessible for every 2500 square feet of floor space in the home. The fire extinguisher was past the green 'full' gauge indicating it needs to be serviced or replaced. 10A NCAC 09. 1707(4) Please mail or email your letter of compliance by September 12, 2023.
