The last annual compliance visit was conducted on September 11th, 2024. A checklist was used to note the requirements I monitored today. Today’s visit was conducted with you, Doris Green, owner/operator, and your daughter April Griffin who’s your additional provider. Your FCCH operates with a 5- STAR rated license. Due to current rule making and the QRIS modernization I encourage you to visit the divisions website; https://ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov/Provider/Licensing/Star-Rated-License/QRIS-Modernization , scroll to the bottom of the page and watch the videos and click on the links to read about the changes that are coming regarding rated license. Please review the www.childcarenews@ncdhhs - DCDEE and read the raise NC newsletter to keep updated. Upon arrival, there were two children present aged 11 months old and two years along with Ms. Green the provider, and her daughter, additional provider, Ms. Griffin. This family childcare home is licensed to care for five preschool and three school-age children. On arrival, 11-month-old was playing with Ms. Griffin on the floor, and the two-year-old child was working with Ms. Green on potty training. In addition to the two children present, Ms. Green informed me that she has three school-age children enrolled are ages (7, 5, and 10) All program files (fire drills, outdoor inspections, lockdown/shelter in place drills, EPR), provider (documented on the verification of information form), and children’s records along with posted items (license, EMC plan, activity schedule), space requirements, equipment and furnishings, capacity and supervision, transportation, outdoor area, and equipment were monitored during today’s visit. During today’s visit a violation of childcare requirements related to steps being accessible to children under the age of two was corrected during the visit. A letter of corrective action is not required for this violation. A violation was cited related to the ABCMS criminal record portal requirement. At the conclusion of today’s visit an email was provided of the power point to set up the portal was provided as well as a contact name and phone number for a representative in the criminal records unit to provide assistance in navigating and completing the requirement. *The following violations were cited during today’s visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 708 Indoor stairs with more than two steps were not made inaccessible to children two years of age or younger. The stairs to the second floor of the home was inaccessible, the gate was not pulled across to block the children in care from climbing them. 10 A NCAC 09 .1719(a)(29) 1847 A child care operator did not notify the Division of any new child care providers, as defined in G.S. 110-90.2(a)(2), who were hired or moved into the child care facility within five business days. The provider did not create her ABCMS portal and or link herself and her additional providers criminal record qualification letters. G.S. 110-90.2 & .2703(r) Violations of childcare requirements were cited and require a letter of corrective action by September 11th, 2025.
