Shirley McCray, the operator, assisted me with the visit. This program currently operates with a four-star license, issued January 30, 2018. License restrictions include first and second shift, maximum of five preschool children at one time, fireplace/woodstove not used during operating hours, and serves no more than two infants under one year of age. The program’s compliance history was one hundred percent (100%) as of June 15, 2026, and was reviewed with the operator during today’s visit. A walk-through of the facility was completed today; all indoor and outdoor areas were monitored. The school aged children were napping during my visit. Staff/child ratio, group size, supervision, use of licensed space, space capacity and the license restrictions were monitored. The license and the emergency care plan were posted. Fire drills, medication administration, sanitation requirements and storage of hazardous products were also monitored. Your CPR, First Aid, and ITS/SIDS certifications remain current. Staff and Program Records were reviewed during today’s visit. Children's files were reviewed, the verification of required information, the FCCH Annual Compliance Checklist and the FCCH Statement of Responsibility was completed. The following violations were observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 930 Prior to the expiration date of the qualification letter, the child care provider did not complete and submit required forms to complete a criminal background check (a qualification letter is valid for a maximum of five years from the date of issuance). S. McRay's qualification letter expired on 2/26/26. G.S. 110-90.2 & .2703(n) & (o) 1831 A valid qualification letter was not on file and available for review at the facility. S. McRay and D. Mcray did not have a valid qualification letter on vile. G.S. 110-90.2 (b) & (d) & .2703(e) .1702(b)(1) Child care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent.
