Your program currently operates with a five-star license, issued April5, 2022, earning 7 points in the education component, 7 points in the program standards component meeting all enhanced requirements and reduced ratios and 1 quality point for offering a staff benefits package and an infrastructure of parent involvement. Your program was also monitored for compliance with implementing an approved curriculum as required for all four- and five-star licensed facilities where four-year-old children are enrolled. The last annual compliance visit was conducted September 19, 2023. The sanitation inspection was completed March 20, 2024, with a “Superior” classification. The last fire inspection was conducted November 17, 2023, and your facility was approved for daytime care only. The center's compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was one hundred percent as of May 21, 2024. A walk-through of the facility was completed today, all indoor and outdoor areas were monitored. I observed children in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments and found supervision and staff/child ratios to be in compliance. Children throughout the facility were participating in group time, free play in activity areas, transitions, and personal care routines. Files for new and existing staff were reviewed. Rated license requirements were reviewed to ensure compliance was maintained with current program and education components as well as the quality point. Your last sanitation inspection was March 20, 2024, with a superior classification and your last fire inspection was November 17, 2023. Lunch was observed and consisted of cheese dippers, red bliss potatoes, rainbow fruit cup, and milk. The following was cited during today’s inspection. Violation Number Comment Rule 1043 All staff records, except financial records, were not made available for review. The staff file for PG was not given to the consultant during the visit. G.S. 110-91( 9) 1048 All staff did not successfully complete certification in First Aid appropriate to the age of children in care. Verification of staff completion of First Aid training from an approved training organization was not in the staff file. Teacher PG did not have verification of completing First Aid training. They did mention that they completed the class last Friday May 17, 2024, but verification was not on file. .1102(c) 1049 All staff did not successfully complete certification in CPR training appropriate to the age of the children in care. Verification of staff completion of the CPR course from an approved training organization was not in the staff file. Teacher PG did not have verification of completing CPR training. They did mention that they completed the class last Friday May 17, 2024, but verification was not on file. .1102(d) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before June 5, 2024, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is legal documentation. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. Having this paperwork available for review will help prevent violations in the future. We discussed requesting Environment Rating Scale (ERS) assessments in an effort to increase the program's star rating. Resources such as Child Care Resource and Referral and Smart Start can be valuable when preparing for the ERS. “All about ECERS-R”, “All about ITERS-R” and the NCRLAP website (www.ncrlap.org) can also be helpful as staff prepare for the ERS. On the NCRLAP website, there are training videos, sample questions and clarifying information regarding the assessments you may find helpful.
