Name of Operation: KJACKS PLAYHOUSE Facility ID: 96000638 Consultant: TINA JONES Operation Type: Family CC Home Case Number: Visit Date: 5/1/2024 Number Present: 4 Completed Date: 5/1/2024 Age: From 1 To 3 Total Minutes: 120 Time In: 09:00 AM Time Out: 11:00 AM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Family CC Home Type Of Visit: Routine Unannounced Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today's visit was to monitor applicable childcare requirements during this Routine Unannounced Visit. Currently this family child care home operates with a Four-Star License, issued March 4, 2023, earning seven (7) points in the Education Component, 2 points in the Program Component (operational policies approved) and 1 Quality point for limiting the number of infants enrolled to no more than two. The last annual compliance visit was conducted August 24, 2023. K. Jackson, the Operator of this family childcare home was present and assisted with the visit. Four children were present, aged one (1) to (3) years of age. I observed the children playing with a variety of toys, completing transitions, completing routines, and playing independently. I observed you sitting on the floor with the children playing and interacting. The interactions between caregiver and children were nurturing and supportive. Fire drills, lockdown/shelter-in-place drills, and outdoor inspections were completed as required. Prior to today’s visit, the program’s compliance history was 100% over the current 18- month period. A copy of your compliance history report was left with you. You are listed as the sole proprietor on the child care license. Prior to changing the name and/or ownership (i.e. forming a corporation), please contact me to discuss procedures. Failure to notify a Division of Child Development representative may affect your child care license. The contact information that is on file with DCDEE was verified to be current. I used the Family Child Care Home Item Number Listing (DCD 0375) as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable child care requirements. The computer-generated visit summary was discussed with you at the conclusion of the visit and a copy was left with you. The following violation was documented. Violation Number Comment Rule 1409 Operator did not provide a physically safe and healthy indoor and outdoor environment that meets the developmental needs of the children in care. In the bathroom that the enrolled children utilize, the vanity drawers had child-proof locks; however, they were not latching correctly. In the drawers were spray air fresheners(non-aerosol) and other items that were labeled, “Keep out of the reach of children”. 10A NCAC 09 .1719 (a) COMPLIANCE EXPECTATIONS, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE and CONSULTATION: Violations documented above must be corrected immediately. A signed and dated letter of compliance must be mailed to me by May 3, 2024, describing how and when the violations were corrected and how compliance will be maintained in the future. This two-week time frame is established to allow you time for submitting your compliance letter and is not intended to be used as a guide for correcting violations, as they should be corrected immediately. The letter of compliance should be mailed or emailed to me, Tina Jones, PO Box 10194, Goldsboro, NC 27532. The compliance letter must be submitted from the email address on file for your program. Child care licensing requirements are established to ensure a safe and healthy childcare environment. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all the licensing requirements that apply to your type of program. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with the applicable laws and rules; always whether they have been monitored or specifically discussed with you in the past. The best way for you to ensure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the childcare laws and rules on the Division of Child Development and Early Education’s website. SAFE ENVIRONMENT: While completing a walk-through of the home, I observed the bathroom that the enrolled children utilize. As a reminder, all items labeled “Keep out of the reach of children” without additional warnings, must be maintained five feet from the floor.
