Alicia Lovick, Lead Teacher Assistant assisted me with the visit. The program operated with a five-star license, issued April 28, 2017, earning seven points for education, seven points for program standards, and one quality point for complying with the education option. License restrictions include daytime care only, meeting enhanced ratios minus one, and meets enhanced space. The last annual compliance visit was conducted on January 16, 2025. The sanitation inspection was completed January 27, 2025, with a “Superior” classification. The last fire inspection was conducted on June 10, 2025, and your facility was approved for daytime care only. The program’s compliance history was ninety-eight percent as of November 24, 2025. Children were observed during indoor free play activities, personal care routines, and transition to lunch. The Teachers were observed interacting with children while they played. Age-appropriate materials and equipment were accessible to children. Children were adequately supervised. Lunch consisted of pizza bites, Italian grill cheese, marinara sauce cup, toss salad, salad dressing, apple, and milk. The following violations were observed during today's visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 1044 Prior to the expiration date of the qualification letter, the child care provider did not complete and submit required forms to complete a criminal background check (a qualification letter is valid for a maximum of five years for the date of issuance). Christine Transente, Administrator did submit required forms to complete a criminal background check prior to the expiration of their qualification letter. G.S. 110-90.2(b) & .2703(n)&(o) 1757 A valid qualification letter was not on file and available to review at the facility. A current qualification letter was not on file for Christine Transente, Administrator. G.S. 110-90.2(b) & (d) & .2703(e) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation documented must be corrected immediately. On or before December 9, 2025, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail, how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware that any information submitted by you is considered legal documentation. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. On September 4, 2025, I met with Jamie Flanagan, Pre-K Supervisor for Robeson County Schools, to review the different pathways. During that meeting Ms. Flanagan stated they are exploring pathway #3, accreditation. A determination will be made once the coordinators have reviewed and met with each accreditation agency. On November 19, 2025, Ms. Flanagan confirmed they are moving forth with Cognia accreditation. There are still some administration items to review and meetings as they prepare to work on early learning standards.
