The facility has an 18-month compliance history of 100%. The last annual compliance visit was documented on 4/9/2024. I completed an Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist for Centers during today’s visit. This DPI NC Pre-K classroom currently operates with a Four-Star License effective March 28, 2018. Upon arrival at the elementary school, I was greeted by Ms. A. Dzura and Ms. M Bullins. Both assisted me with the visit. There were 16 children present today. Children were observed engaged in group time, playing in a variety of centers and outside activities. The teachers were also participating in “crazy sock day” by wearing crazy socks and providing guidance thorough lessons and group time activities. The staff were observed engaged in activities with the children and were positive in their interactions with the children. Public School Off-Site Records Verification form for Staff Records and Children’s Records were signed and current. Three children's record files were monitored. Required program records were also monitored during today’s visit. A satisfactory fire inspection was completed 11/5/2024. Emergency drills were documented monthly. A sanitation inspection was completed on 02/27/2025 and the facility received a superior rating. The outdoor space was monitored, and one hazard was observed today. Outdoor inspections were documented monthly. There was one item of non-compliance observed during the visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 721 All equipment and furnishings were not in good repair. Sharp edges on two sand boxes. G.S. 110-91(6); .0601(b) Violation(s) documented above must be corrected immediately. A signed and dated letter of compliance must be emailed to me by 03/19/2025, describing how and when the violation was corrected and how compliance will be maintained in the future. Please remember your letter should include facility name, facility ID#, and original signature. During the visit, I provided technical assistance regarding the outdoor environment. There are two concrete boxes that will need to be filled to the top with dirt, sand or mulch. The boxes also have sharp edges and will need to be repaired.
