A checklist was used to note the requirements I monitored today, and a copy was left with you today. The last annual compliance visit was conducted 10/26/23. Currently this program operates with a three (3) Star License, issued 6/17/19. The facility earned five (5) points in staff education, two (2) points in program standards, and one (1) quality point for education options met. The center director, Laura Andrews, assisted me today. I conducted an unassisted walk-through of the center. The last sanitation inspection was completed 7/29/24 with a ‘Superior’ classification and 3 demerits. The last fire inspection was conducted on 5/20/24. Children were observed playing in activity areas, eating morning snack, preparing for departure, and routine care activities. Transportation is provided for school-age children. The facility uses two vans (DHY 8989 and XVD 9493). Both were available and monitored today. A full assessment of applicable childcare requirements was conducted today. The following violation(s) were documented and technical assistance regarding maintaining compliance was offered. Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. The previous inspection was 5/12/23 and the current inspection was conducted 5/20/24. Technical assistance was provided. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) 1041 Prior to employment a Criminal Background Check was not completed. Group leader R. Leonard did not receive a qualification letter before employment. G.S. 110-90.2(b) 1811 Shelter-in-place or lockdown drills were not practiced every three months and/or drill record was incomplete. A drill was not conducted for July, August, or September 2024. .0604(u);.0302(d)(8) You were provided an opportunity to ask questions regarding interpretation and implementation of all childcare requirements. Each violation cited was discussed with Ms. Andrews. The violation(s) documented above must be corrected immediately. A signed and dated letter of compliance must be received no later than 10/30/24. The letter must include the following: *Facility Name and ID number *List of each violation number *How each violation was corrected All items must be included, or the corrective action letter will be returned for corrections. All requested documentation must accompany the Corrective Action Letter. The letter can be emailed to lori.rierson@dhhs.nc.gov. CONSULTATION AND RESOURCES: All licensed childcare facilities are currently under the ‘Hold-Harmless’ state for their license from DCDEE. Once QRIS is implemented, you will receive information from DCDEE regarding the new pathways for licensure and your timeframe for completing your license renewal. The NCRLAP website, https://ncrlap.org, has trainings geared towards the new ECERS3 assessment scales. These will introduce you to the updated assessment scale and provide tips for completing the new scale. Summer group leader R. Leonard must complete a criminal background letter before working at the center. The previous application was closed due to fingerprints not being submitted. L. Andrews must complete one hour of ongoing training by 10/25/24. One play structure missing bolt covers on one missing a bolt were noted on the playground inspection report and roped off from access by children. Once repaired, send a photograph showing completed. The epi-pen for one school-age child expire 11/2024. A copy of the inspection must be sent to me within seven days. The medical action plan for a child in room 125 stated Zyrtec to be given daily. A medical action plan is for the immediate administration of medication for an acute allergic reaction. The action plan needs to be reviewed with the parent and updated to reflect a one-time dose and symptoms requiring administration.
