BERRIER'S HOME DAY CARE Facility ID: 2905200 Consultant: RENA MCCAFFREY Operation Type: Family CC Home Case Number: Visit Date: 2/12/2025 Number Present: 4 Completed Date: 2/12/2025 Age: From 0 To 3 Total Minutes: 48 Time In: 01:22 PM Time Out: 02:10 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Family CC Home Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to complete an annual monitoring of Applicable Child Care requirements. The last Annual Compliance visit was conducted on February 28, 2024. The Family Child Care Home currently operates with a One -Star Child Care License that was issued on April 10, 2019. The Family Child Care Home’s last Fire Inspection was conducted on February 6, 2025, and the home was approved for daytime care only. The play area listed where children are cared for is on the bottom floor in the basement of the home. The last Fire Drill was conducted on February 3, 2025. The last Lock Down/Shelter-in-Place was on January 15, 2025. The last Playground Inspection was conducted on February 3, 2025. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the operator, Renee Barrier. I stated the purpose of my visit and completed a walkthrough of the home, where attendance was recorded, and observations made. The children were napping when I arrived. During today's visit, I completed a full assessment of applicable Child Care Requirements; license posted, restrictions maintained, staff/child ratio and adequate approved space. Program Records and Criminal Background Check were also monitored. The FCCH and Centers Located in a Residence Verification of Required Information for Operator and Additional Caregivers form were completed, as well as FCCH and Centers Located in a Residence Operators Statements of Responsibility. Today, I monitored Two (2) children’s files, and they were all in compliance. There was no one on medication at this time. Mrs. Renee stated that she does not accept medications. During today’s visit, I monitored the playground area and the are several climbers and outdoor toys for the children to engage in. This home does not provide transportation. The following violation was cited, and technical assistance was offered. Violation Number Comment Rule 1301 Operator did not complete the required number of on-going training hours as specified in rule. Mrs. Berrier needs four (4) more in-service training hours. GS 110-91(11); 10A NCAC 09 .1705(b)(5) The above violations must be corrected immediately. A Corrective Action Letter must be drafted with the name of your facility, the facility identification number, and your signature. The letter must be received by my office on, or before 5:00 PM February 25, 2025. The letter should include: Each item number of noncompliance cited. Describe how and when the violations were corrected. Please include accompanying documentation of compliance. The letter can be emailed to rena.mccaffrey@dhhs.nc.gov. If a compliance letter is not received at my office by 5:00 PM February 25, 2025, a return visit may be conducted to ensure the violations cited have been corrected or addressed. Additional violation may be documented if each violation has not been properly corrected or otherwise addressed.
