The program’s compliance history was 100% as of June 18, 2024. Two children were present during the visit. You, Ms. Sluss and two children were outside near the sidewalk/patio refilling the bird feeders. After completing this task, the children transitioned indoors. The children and the provider showed me their child care space and then we conducted a walkthrough of the home. Next, the children began looking at books. Afterwards, the children moved to the kitchen area so you could prepare lunch. Lunch consisted of spaghetti, carrots, apples and milk. FCCH Verification of Required Information form was reviewed. Since the last visit, the provider’s ITS-SIDS training was due and expired April 27, 2024. Rated License- Your facility is in Cohort 2; therefore, your prep year begins July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. This preparation year is an opportunity to focus on your Star Rated License and consider strategies to help maintain or increase your star rating. So many changes and challenges for programs across the state have occurred due to the pandemic, it will likely be helpful to set aside dedicated time to consider areas where refresher information might be helpful. These ideas can then be incorporated into any ongoing training, action planning, and professional development plans as you prepare for Year 2 when the regular star rated license reassessment process is required. Some preparation year ideas to consider related specifically to the program standards component of the Star Rated License are offered in this document. Begin preparing at this time. You may contact One Place for assistance. Violation Number Comment Rule 1306 Operator has not completed ITS-SIDS training every three years from the completion date of the previous ITS-SIDS training. The provider's ITS-SIDS training expired April 27, 2024. .1703(a)(4) One violation was documented but was corrected during the visit based on a age range change. No further action is required at this time. Child Care programs are expected to always achieve and maintain compliance with child care rules, and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Violation(s) documented will impact the compliance history score. Technical Assistance: Operator has not completed ITS-SIDS training every three years from the completion date of the previous ITS-SIDS training. The provider's ITS-SIDS training expired April 27, 2024. The provider requested to change her age range from 0-12 years old to 1-12 years old. The written request was given to me during the visit. Based on this request, this violation is verified as correct. A new license will be printed. Also, since the provider uses the area around the front fence, this area is approved. Continue to ensure children are visually supervised at all times. REQUIRED- Water Test- It’s time to enroll your facility in the Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program to identify and eliminate exposure to lead and asbestos hazards in building infrastructure. Required Water, Lead Paint, and Asbestos Testing - New child care rules require child care facilities to test for lead in drinking water, lead paint, and asbestos. Testing is required by 1/1/2025, but enrollment was required by 5/1/2024. Check out the FAQ in the updated Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids. Currently there is funding to pay for the testing and to mitigate lead paint or asbestos hazards. Depending on the age of your home or building and the information you provide in the enrollment process, testing for lead paint and asbestos may not be required. (Lead paint was not used in homes built after 1978. Asbestos was not used in homes after 1988.) Water testing will only be required once for family child care homes. For more information go to https://www.cleanwaterforuskids.org/en/carolina/. I encourage you to registered to get the testing process started. I reviewed information about the following with you an • Required Water, Lead Paint, and Asbestos Testing – Enroll by 5/1/24. • Moodle Back Up and Running and Moodle Support Contacts • Love Them Through It: Understanding Trauma in Young Children Training • Rule Changes Effective January 1, 2024 • Free On-line Professional Development Memberships • Health and Safety Resources.
