This center has a five-star license and an 18-month compliance history of 98%. The NC child care law summary were prominently posted. I was greeted by A. Brown, site coordinator. I conducted a walkthrough of the facility. Staff/child ratio, Supervision, capacity, group size and space were observed in compliance today. There were 30 children present for afterschool with site coordinator and group leader. The center’s Emergency Drill Log and Report was reviewed. Fire drills were reviewed. Shelter in place and Lock down drills were monitored. Staff and Children’s DPI verification forms were monitored today. The children were observed participating in arrival, homework, free play and snack. I used the staff and training worksheet to monitor staff files. There were 2 violations cited during today’s visit. Rated License: During the visit, Ms. Brown submitted to me the facilities Family and community Engagement standards form and Facility and Individual CQI plans. In the coming weeks, she will submit to me remaining documents to request the SACERS assessment. The SACERS assessment may be delayed due to staffing. Violation Number Comment Rule 526 Menus for all meals and snacks were not current or posted where easily seen by parents and cook. The menu was not current with what the children were eating for snack. 10A NCAC 09 .0901(b) 1811 Shelter-in-place or lockdown drills were not practiced every three months and/or drill record was incomplete. There was no documentation of a required shelter in place or lockdown drill for November 2025. .0604(u);.0302(d)(8) Technical Assistance: I shared with Ms. Brown to continue to review SACERS materials to prepare for the assessment. This center has a five star license and an 18 month compliance history score of 99%. The license and NC child care law summary was prominently posted. Upon arrival, I was greeted by A. Brown, site coordinator. There were 28 children in attendance today divided into 2 groups. I observed the children participating in arrival, bathroom, reading and teacher directed activities. The following items were monitored today: supervision, staff/child ratios, permit restrictions, license posted, approved space, storage of hazardous products, storage of medication, staff records and program records. There have been no new staff since my last visit. The staff and training worksheets were reviewed to confirm existing staff were still current with CPR, First Aid, BSAC and criminal background qualifying letters. All DPI verification forms were monitored. The center’s Emergency Drill Log and Report was reviewed. Fire drills were documented monthly as required. Shelter-in-place and Lock-Down drills were documented quarterly as required. The playground safety inspections were reviewed. Reports were documented monthly as required. There was 1 violation cited during today’s visit. It was corrected during the visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 526 Menus for all meals and snacks were not current or posted where easily seen by parents and cook. A current menu was not posted. 10A NCAC 09 .0901(b) Technical assistance: -I shared with the site coordinator to place her/staff updated background checks in the binder. -Hold Harmless has been extended until the new QRIS is implemented (SB 425). -Use this time for staff to update their information in the WORKS database.
