This center has a GS 110-106 Notice of Compliance. The center’s Notice of Compliance and NC childcare law summary were prominently posted. The Secretary of State database was monitored and FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH is current and active. I was greeted by S. Wright, director. Ms. Wright accompanied me during the walkthrough of the facility. Staff/child ratio, supervision, capacity, group size and space were observed in compliance today. The center’s Emergency Drill Log and Report was reviewed. Fire drills were documented monthly as required. Shelter-in-place and Lock-down drills were documented quarterly as required. The playground safety inspections were reviewed and documented. The center last had a sanitation inspection on 5/20/26. The center received 5 demerits and received superior classification. The inspection was completed by the Mecklenburg County Health Department. The center last had a fire inspection on 5/26/26. There were 44 children in attendance today. The children were observed participating in free play, outdoor play and napping. The playground was monitored today. I monitored the facilities transportation vehicle. There have been 2 new staff since my last visit. I monitored new staff files. I monitored ten percent of existing staff files. Ten percent of the enrolled children’s files were monitored at random today. There were 2 violations cited during today’s visit. A staff member does not have a current background qualification letter on file. I monitored the background portal during the visit. The staff member’s background check is in process. The staff member’s background check letter has to be on file by June 10, 2026; if not they cannot return until the current background check letter is on file. This center has a GS 110-106 Notice of Compliance and an 18 month compliance history score of 98%. The notice of compliance and NC child care law summary were prominently posted. Upon arrival, I was greeted by D. Lindley, assistant director. Ms. Lindley accompanied me during the walkthrough of the facility. There were 46 children in attendance today. The children were observed participating in free play, teacher directed activities and napping. The following items were monitored today: supervision, staff/child ratios, permit restrictions, license posted, approved space, storage of hazardous products, storage of medication, staff records and program records. There are 2 new staff since my last visit. I monitored the new staff files. The staff and training worksheets were reviewed to confirm existing staff were still current with CPR, First Aid, ITS-SIDS training and criminal background qualifying letters. The center’s Emergency Drill Log and Report was reviewed. Fire drills were documented monthly as required. Shelter in place/lockdown drills were documented as required. The playground safety inspections were reviewed. There were 3 violations cited during today’s visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 812 Electrical outlets and power strips, not in use, which were located in space used by children did not have safety outlets or were not covered with safety plugs unless located behind furniture or equipment that cannot be moved by a child. In space #105, there was an electrical outlet not covered. 10A NCAC 09 .0604(c) 859 Monthly playground inspections were not completed and/or they were not completed by an individual trained in playground safety requirements. There was no documentation on file for November playground inspection. .0605(q) 1898 Staff did not complete the health and safety training within one year of employment. A staff member has not completed all the health and safety trainings within one year of employment. .1102(a) Technical Assistance: Ms. Lindley had questions regarding the playground. This center has a GS 110-106 Notice of Compliance. The center’s Notice of Compliance and NC childcare law summary were prominently posted. The Secretary of State database was monitored and FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH is current and active. I was greeted by S. Wright, director and D. Lindley, assistant director. Ms. Wright accompanied me during the walkthrough of the facility. Staff/child ratio, supervision, capacity, group size and space were observed in compliance today. The center’s Emergency Drill Log and Report was reviewed. Fire drills were documented monthly as required. Shelter-in-place and Lock-down drills were documented quarterly as required. The playground safety inspections were reviewed and documented. The center last had a sanitation inspection on 3/26/24. The center received 6 demerits and received superior classification. The inspection was completed by the Mecklenburg County Health Department. The center last had a fire inspection on 5/22/24. There were 52 children in attendance today. The children were observed participating in lunch, free play, napping and teacher directed activities. The playground was monitored today. The playgrounds were measured today to update the facilities file. Toddlers measured: 28 children at 75 sq feet/ 21 children at 100 sq feet Preschool measured: 72 children at 75 sq feet/ 54 children at 100 sq feet Twos: 36 children at 75 sq feet/ 27 children at 100 sq feet. The facility does not provide transportation. All new staff files and ten percent of existing staff files were monitored today. Ten percent of the enrolled children’s files were monitored at random today. There was 1 violation cited today.
