Name of Operation: TINY TOWN DAY CARE Facility ID: 26000368 Consultant: SANDRA JOHNSON Operation Type: Family CC Home Case Number: Visit Date: 3/15/2024 Number Present: 1 Completed Date: 3/15/2024 Age: From 1 To 1 Total Minutes: 180 Time In: 08:45 AM Time Out: 11:45 AM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Family CC Home Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor compliance with applicable child care requirements pertinent to an annual compliance visit to include Health and Safety training. The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed March 28, 2023, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 100%, which is above the required 75% by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4) (c-d). This program currently operates with a three-Star License issued March 24, 2020. The License was based on the program earning four points in education standards, two points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a Program Options with serves no more than two infants under one year of age. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Jeanette Cogdell. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Superior completed November 7, 2023. J. Cogdell, Operator, was present while I observed the indoor and outdoor areas. Upon my arrival there was one child present. The child was observed playing with farm animals, a farmhouse, sorting toys, and small plastic blocks. Lunch served today will be chicken nuggets, fries, apples, and milk. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with J. Cogdell. The following violations were observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 2023 Operator and/or staff who work with children, did not complete health and safety training as part of on-going training so that every five years, all the topic areas were covered. The provider had not completed Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training within five years of previously taking the training. The last time Recognizing and Responding training was completed 3/1/2017. This training is part of the Health and Safety training and is required every 5 years. .1703(d)(2) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Violations observed and documented today may impact the compliance history score. The violations observed and documented today must be corrected immediately. Additionally, by 5:00pm on March 29, 2024, you must submit a written, dated, and signed statement to me. The statement must describe accurately and in detail, how and when the violations were corrected. If the letter states that corrections have been made when they have not, this may be considered falsification of information. Ensure that you are checking off all required training as it is completed. This will allow you to know what has been completed and what hasn’t. Health and Safety training topics must be completed within the first year. Child care staff are expected to be well informed about child abuse and neglect issues and adequately trained to prevent and recognize potential maltreatment. The “Recognizing and Responding to Child Abuse and Maltreatment” training must be completed within 90 days of hire. Documentation of training must be kept on file for review. Complete the health and safety training record as found on the DCDEE website. After the first year, staff must complete the health and safety training topics at least once every five years. Reminders: The DCDEE has a new initiative – Natural Outdoor Learning Initiative. Through this initiative, we hope to increase knowledge and confidence for everyone in developing and implementing best practices to support the creation, programming, and safe use of naturalized outdoor spaces in child care facilities.
