Name of Operation: SWEET DREAMS HOME DAYCARE LLC Facility ID: 41002524 Consultant: MARY MCMILLAN Operation Type: Family CC Home Case Number: Visit Date: 4/29/2025 Number Present: 4 Completed Date: 4/29/2025 Age: From 2 To 4 Total Minutes: 120 Time In: 11:30 AM Time Out: 01:30 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Family CC Home Type Of Visit: Temp Time Period Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced I conducted an unannounced visit today to monitor applicable child care requirements during a Temporary Time Period visit, the license was issued on 3/26/25 and children started on 4/14/25. Today Ms. Pichardo was present and caring for the children. Ms. Pichardo stated that she has additional children wanting to start and we discussed that with her capacity restrictions, she can only have 5 preschool children at any one time, including her own 2 preschool children. Therefore only 3 other preschool children, ages 0-5 years old until they start kindergarten, are allowed. A school-aged child must be 5 years old and have attended their 1st day of kindergarten and she can have 2 additional school age children, since her 1 school-aged child counts in her numbers. As your license restrictions state, you can only have a total of 5 preschool children and 3 school-aged children at any one time. Upon arrival the children were playing outside in the backyard playground area. I observed the children playing outside and transitioning to nap. The children were being cared for in an age-appropriate manner. I conducted a walk-through of all inside areas that the children use. The following items were monitored during today's visit: supervision, capacity, approved space, age-appropriate activities, safe environment, program and three children's records, required items and permit posted and permit restrictions. The following violation was cited during today's visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 919 Accurate records were not maintained for all staff and children. Three children's files applications were not fully completed. G.S. 110-91(9) We discussed the following items of consultation during today's visit: During the visit you had a question about an additional caregiver and we discussed that you can still only have 5 preschool children total along with 3 school-aged children, and those numbers include your own children, even if you have an additional person present. You also asked about if you add an addition onto your home for a center located in a residence and we discussed the City of High Point does not allow centers located in a residences, per ordinances and codes who do not recognize R-4 building codes. We discussed that in order for you to continue to receive and be eligible for DSS funding at the end of your temporary license, you must have at least a 3 star license. You stated that you understand this and that you have enrolled to complete the NCECC (EDU 119) course this summer starting in June 2025. You must pass the course with a C or better to receive credit for the course and use it for your education. You have been open since April 14, 2025, so you must complete a fire drill and playground inspection for the month of April before May. We discussed that you will use the smoke detector to signal the fire drill and evacuate to the backyard. We discussed the form to use for the monthly fire drills and quarterly emergency drills. You stated that you have enrolled to take the EPR course and you will have 4 months from the completion of that course to prepare and implement your emergency plan discussed during the training. Reminders: Please remember that it is your responsibility to know and follow all child care laws, rules and requirements while you have a child care license, even if they have not been reviewed with you. Failure to follow these requirements can result in an administrative action against your license up to a revocation or denial of a license. You can find all of these laws, rules and requirements on our website for review at ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov You must maintain at least a 75% compliance history or better to apply for a star rated license at the end of your Temporary Time Period. Currently your compliance history is at 99% with today's visit. Check each child's paperwork when a parent brings it to you for completion and accuracy. Please remember to submit your education to our WORKS unit after your finish your college course for EDU 119. The process of how to do this is on our DCDEE website under the WORKS tab for providers and if you have any questions about this process you can contact the WORKS unit at the email or number listed there. If you have any questions please let me know. You must correct your violation immediately and send me an emailed letter stating how the violation was corrected before 5/12/25. I have included a sample compliance letter with this documentation, explaining how to write the letter. If the operator fails to correct any documented violations within the established time period, the Division of Child Development and Early Education may deny, suspend, terminate, or revoke any permit to operate (10A NCAC 09 .2000). All information in this report has been reviewed with me today.I understand that it is my responsibility to maintaincompliance with applicable NC Child Care Requirements at all times
