I used a checklist to note the requirements I monitored today. This NCPK currently operates with a Five-Star license, effective May 7, 2019. There are two NCPK classrooms located in this elementary school. I was greeted by Ms. R. Marley, LT, Ms. B. Pratt, TA and Ms. M. Franklin, LT and Ms. C. Barricks, TA. Today twenty-eight children were present. I observed both NCPK classrooms and gathered attendance. Children participated in free play, story time, music and movement, and transitioning to lunch. All teachers and teacher assistants were involved with the children and guiding the children with their activities. All interactions we observed were warm and caring. The NCPK’s have their own playground area. A Fire Inspection was conducted on 11/22/2025. The latest Sanitation Inspection was conducted September 23, 2025, with a Superior score. I reviewed sampling of children’s files. We reviewed staff files and the staff and training worksheet. Your signature on these forms will serve as verification that the information provided is accurate and complete. The center’s compliance history is 97% as of December 2, 2025. I observed one violation of childcare rules during the visit today and the violation was corrected during the visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 812 Electrical outlets and power strips, not in use, which were located in space used by children did not have safety outlets or were not covered with safety plugs unless located behind furniture or equipment that cannot be moved by a child. One of the NC Pre-K classrooms had one outlet that was not covered. This violation was corrected during the visit. 10A NCAC 09 .0604(c) Corrective action is not required on your part at this time. You must continue to maintain compliance with applicable childcare requirements. Please remember it is your responsibility to know and follow all child care rules and requirements. Today supervisor Meg Riddle accompanied me on the visit. We used a checklist to note the requirements we monitored today. This NCPK currently operates with a Five-Star license, effective May 7, 2019. There is two NCPK classrooms located in this elementary school. We were greeted by Ms. Ramon Marley, LT, Ms. Barbara Pratt, TA and Ms. Franklin, LT and Ms. Johnson TA. We observed two violation of childcare rules during the visit today and the violation was corrected during the visit. In room 600 an outlet was uncovered and in room 603 an outlet and power strips was uncovered. Both room corrected the violation during the visit. This is a violation of a requirement in 10A NCAC 09 .0604(c). 10A NCAC 09 .0604(c) 1052 Staff required to receive on-going training had not completed the required number of hours according to their education and experience. One of the teachers did not have the required on-going training completed. .1103(a) In order to maintain compliance with North Carolina childcare laws and rules, the above violations must be corrected immediately. Please send me a correction letter by email stating how the violations were corrected. It must be submitted to me by January 23, 2025. Include the following information in your correction letter: 1. Facility Name 2. Facility ID 3. Date of the letter 4. The violation number, the date the violation was corrected, information regarding how the violation was corrected. You were given the opportunity to ask questions regarding interpretation and implementation of childcare requirements. Please remember you must know and follow all child rules and requirements at all times, even if they have not been reviewed with you. Reminders: •Ms. Franklin your First and CPR is expiring the end of April. •Please make sure you check your plug outlets around the room and have them covered. •When families have documents sign such as dental forms please make sure they are complete fully. •Please make sure Your Record of in-service training yearly with visually documents to verify. Please make sure emergency information and health questionnaire is completed each year, changing the date is okay as long as nothing has changed from the current year.
