This FCCH earned a Three-Star License on May 20, 2019. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Ms. Katasha Harris, the owner of the FCCH. The children were in the childcare room eating lunch. After lunch Ms. Harris handed the children milk and Ms. Harris and the children song nursery rhymes of their choice while Ms. Harris song with them on the floor. The outdoor play area is fenced in and there are many items for active play. This home does not have guns or weapons in the home. Currently you do not provide any type of transportation. As of March 11, 2025, the compliance history for this FCCH is 99%. Fire drills and Playground inspections were current and accessible. There are five preschool aged children enrolled. Four preschool age children are in attendance. All centers were open for the children. There are plenty of activities for the children. All interactions I observed were warm and caring. All the children’s files were reviewed today, along with Ms. Harris. Program files were also reviewed. To verify compliance with specific requirements, provider information was recorded onto the Verification Form for FCCH, and Ms. Harris completed the FCCH and Centers Located in a Residence Operator’s Statements of Responsibility form. I received the signed forms during today’s visit. Your signature on these forms will serve as verification that the information provided is accurate and complete. I observed one item of noncompliance during the visit today. Violation Number Comment Rule 930 Prior to the expiration date of the qualification letter, the child care provider did not complete and submit required forms to complete a criminal background check (a qualification letter is valid for a maximum of five years from the date of issuance). Two household members qualification letters expired on December 9th, 2024. G.S. 110-90.2 & .2703(n) & (o) In order to maintain compliance with North Carolina child care laws and rules, the above violations must be corrected immediately. Please send me a correction letter by email stating how the violations were corrected and how you plan to maintain compliance in the future. It must be submitted to me by March 25, 2025. Include the following information in your correction letter: 1. Facility Name 2. Facility ID 3. Date of the letter 4. The violation number, the date the violation was corrected, information regarding how the violation was corrected and how you plan to maintain compliance with the item number in the future. Ms. Harris needs nine more training hours before April 16, 2025. In-service training hours are on Moodle and are free. I used the Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist for FCCH and the FCCH Item Number Listing (DCD 0375) as basic tools to assess compliance with applicable child care requirements pertinent to this FCCH. There are six preschool aged children enrolled. Four preschool age children are in attendance. All centers were open for the children. There are plenty of activities for the children. All interactions I observed were warm and caring. All the children’s files were reviewed today, along with Ms. Harris. Program files were also reviewed.
