A checklist was used to note the requirements I monitored today. This center currently operates with a Five-Star license, effective June 6, 2019. I was greeted by the director, Ms. Gilliland. Ms. Gilliland accompanied me on the walk-through of the center, during the walk-through I observed the children and gathered attendance. A full assessment of child care requirements was conducted during today’s visit. There is one NC Pre K classroom on site. There were 47 children present during the visit. The children were observed returning from outside, completing bathroom routines, eating lunch, and resting. The children in the NC Pre K classroom were not present due to a teachers’ work day for Guilford County Schools. A satisfactory fire inspection was conducted 09/6/24. A sanitation inspection was conducted 02/12/24 resulting in a Superior classification. Playground inspections and emergency drills were current and documented. This facility’s corporation status was verified current on the NC Department of the Secretary of State on November 5, 2024. One violation of child care requirements was cited. Violation Number Comment Rule 1329 Application for enrollment did not include all required information. On the children's application, questions were not answered that included fears, unique characteristics, and health concerns. .0801(a)(1-7) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Email the information to: sharon.y.williams@dhhs.nc.gov Provider Access Available to the Automated Background Check Management System Child care administrators can access ABCMS, the DCDEE’s criminal background check system. This access will allow providers to: • See the real-time background check status of staff members. • Run a printable report of the staff roster to assist with compliance visits. • See new background check applicants and add to staff roster. Access to the ABCMS requires the successful completion of a Moodle course consisting of a short video followed by a test. Please complete the process for your facility as soon as possible. Rated License Assessment Update: The Governor signed Senate Bill 425 (now Session Law 2024-34), Health and Human Services Omnibus Bill, which includes the Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) Modifications recommended to the Legislature by the NC Child Care Commission to update QRIS and create additional pathways for licensed child care facilities to earn star rated licenses. Hold Harmless provisions have been extended and star rated license assessments for licensed child care providers will be conducted by provider request only, until the QRIS rulemaking process has been completed.
