You, Joy Bunn, Owner/Operator, assisted me with the visit. Your program currently operates with a Four-Star License effective 5/7/2021. The last Annual Compliance visit was completed 2/13/2025. An Operator Statement of Responsibility and a Verification of Required Information were completed at that time. A walk-through of the home was completed today; all indoor and outdoor areas were monitored. Children throughout the home were resting. The caregiver was interacting and meeting the developmental needs for each of the children. Fire inspection was completed on 5/1/2025. Playground inspections and drills were completed and current. There was one item of non-compliance observed today. Violation Number Comment Rule 101 Number of children exceeded number allowed. There were two additional children that exceeded the capacity on the license. GS 110-91(7)(b) & 110-86(3)(b) The violation documented above must be corrected immediately. A signed and dated letter of compliance must be emailed to me by 07/28/25, describing how and when the violation was corrected and how compliance will be maintained in the future. Please remember your letter should include facility name, facility ID#, and original signature. During the visit, I provided technical assistance regarding your capacity for family child care homes. You explained your understanding of the new Legislation Bill. I followed through with additional information through email after the visit regarding legislation. Legislation was passed to include revisions to NC General Statute 110-86(2) defining family child care homes (FCCH) and NC General Statute 110-91(7)(b) regarding FCCH capacity. Increasing capacity process must be completed prior to caring for additional children. A family childcare home is allowed to provide care for one of the following groups of children, including the operator's own pre-school-age children and excluding the operator's own school-age children up to 13 years of age: 1. A maximum of eight children, with no more than five children who are from birth to 5 years of age, plus three school-age children. 2. A maximum of three children from birth to 24 months of age, plus three children from 2 to 5 years of age and three school-age children up to 13 years of age, for a total of nine children. 3. A maximum of 10 children if all children are older than 24 months of age. You may have 3 school-aged children present with your 5 preschoolers. This is a total of 8 children. You may not have them overlap or go over these numbers at any time. You were provided with an opportunity to ask questions regarding the implementation of Child Care Rules.
