This facility is a center located in a residence and currently operates with a Three Star license issued on June 19, 2019. Upon arrival to the facility, I was greeted by Ms. Georgia Mark. Ms. Mark assisted me during my visit today. During my observation today I observed the children actively engaging in free play. Age-appropriate sufficient materials were also observed in the learning environment. I monitored staff/ child ratios and supervision as I walked throughout the facility and found both in compliance. Three (3) children were present during today’s visit. Staff files were monitored for compliance for current Criminal Background qualifying letters and current CPR/First Aid and other specialized training as required. A sanitation inspection was conducted on May 9, 2025. This facility received a superior classification and zero (0) demerits. Monthly fire drills and playground inspections have been documented as well as quarterly disaster drills. One violation of child care requirements was cited today: Violation Number Comment Rule 1044 Prior to the expiration date of the qualification letter, the child care provider did not complete and submit required forms to complete a criminal background check (a qualification letter is valid for a maximum of five years for the date of issuance). The licensed provider and a household member did not complete an updated criminal background check prior to the expiration date. G.S. 110-90.2(b) & .2703(n)&(o) Child Care facilities must maintain compliance with applicable childcare requirements at all times. In order to maintain compliance with North Carolina childcare laws and rules, the above violation must be corrected immediately. Please send a letter of compliance stating how the above violation was corrected and what you will do in the future to prevent this violation from being cited. Please email me this letter by December 8, 2025. **HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING: (As a reminder you will need to complete Health & Safey by March of 2026). The CCDF Health and Safety trainings are now available on the DCDEE Moodle learning platform. The CCDF Health and Safety in Child Care Trainings, developed by the North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center, are FREE and easy to access. The trainings will no longer be available on the Pro-solutions Website for free. You will still need to complete the Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training through Positive Childcare Alliance website (www.preventchildabusenc.org) within 90 days of employment. Moodle can also be accessed https://www.dcdee.moodle.nc.gov/ or thru DCDEE's homepage https://ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov/ --Document/track the completion of these trainings on Health & Safety Training Record (available on DCDEE website) --After the first year, you must complete training in each topic area at least every five years, except for CPR/First Aid (every 2 years) and Safe Sleep Training (every 3 years) --Keep in mind this training will also count for annual training the year you complete the training --It is recommended that you print your certificates as you complete each course. --It is also important to note that if you don’t complete the training by the end of December you may not have access to the completed training courses in the new year. **For complete details of these requirements review section .1102 in the Child Care Requirements. --Please use the Record of In-service Training Chart to keep track of your training completed each year. (It is recommended that you use one sheet each year). Also have at least two years available for review (current year and previous year). **PATHWAYS TO THE STARS: (QRIS) The Pathways to the Stars transition has begun. I conducted a training for Center operators in September 2025, and you were not able to attend the training. During today’s visit, an overview of section .3200 of the child care rules was provided. Each of the three (3) pathway options were discussed: Program Assessment Pathway, Classroom and Instructional Quality Pathway, and Accreditation and Head Start Pathway. Education requirements were also reviewed. Based on today’s conversation you stated you were interested in pursuing Pathway #2: Classroom and Instructional Quality Pathway. You also wanted to receive additional information on the approved curriculum options for Centers Located in a Residence. I will send you via email, resources on approved curriculum options. During your next visit we will discuss a timeline for your transition to the new system. You interacted with the children in a positive and nurturing manner. A full assessment of child care requirements was conducted today. A sanitation inspection was completed on January 23, 2024 resulting in a "Superior" classification with 2 Demerits. During the visit, I received from you the FCCH and Centers Located in a Residence Operator’s Statements of Responsibility and the Verification of Required Information Form. Your signature on these forms serves as verification the information provided is accurate and complete. Today you stated that you do not transport the children enrolled in the center. There are two household members and no pets. During today’s visit three violations of child care requirements were cited. One violation was corrected during the visit.
