A checklist was used to note the requirements I monitored today. This facility currently operates with a Five Star license issued on December 10,2019. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Ms. L. Marshall one the lead teachers. Ms. Marshall informed me that I informed Ms. Marshall the purpose of today’s visit. Ms. Marshall gave me the necessary paperwork I needed to complete today’s visit. All indoor and outdoor spaces used use by the children was observed today. All required items were posted. All medication and hazardous items were out of the children's reach. During today’s visit, I observed the children playing outside on the playground washing their hands in preparation for lunch, eating lunch, and napping. Thirty-one (31) children were present during today’s visit. A sanitation inspection was conducted on February 13, 2024. This facility received a superior rating with four (4) demerits. A fire inspection was conducted on. November 1,2023. Staff and children files were monitored during today’s visit. The staff and training worksheets were updated during today’s visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 862 The EMC plan was not reviewed with all staff annually and whenever the plan was revised. The EMC plan was not reviewed with with two substitutes. 10A NCAC 09 .0802(a) 1757 A valid qualification letter was not on file and available to review at the facility. one substitute didn't have a copy of qualification letter available for review at the facility. G.S. 110-90.2(b) & (d) & .2703(e) 1825 All staff did not review the center's EPR Plan during orientation and/or on an annual basis with the trained staff. Documentation of the review was not maintained on file. Two substitutes did not review the center's EPR plan during orientation. .0607(f) A corrective action letter is not required for this visit since the violations were cited during today's visit were corrected during the visit. Consultation: I discussed with Ms. Marshall several staff members CPR/First Aid and criminal record rechecks, health and safety trainings will expire by specific dates. Please refer to the staff/training worksheet for the expiration dates. New rules: I also discussed with Ms. Marshall the Rated license assessment process will July1,2024. I informed Ms. Marshall this facility is in Cohort 1. There is an observation assessment that you can contact the rated assessment project. The prep assessment you will contact the child care consultant to request the prep assessment. Ms. Marshal asked me what is the difference in the two assessments. I explained to her that the difference is the observation scores cannot count as your rated license assessment scores. The prep assessment scores you can count if the score is what you need to maintain your current star rated license. Your Prep assessment year is July 1,2023 to June 30, 2024. Your assessment year is July 1, 2024,to June 30,2025. I informed Ms. Marshall that since this facility's assessment is due during the next school year then she will need to contact me in October if she wanted to to the Prep assessment. If the operator fails to correct any documented violations within the established time period, the Division of Child Development and Early Education may deny, suspend, terminate, or revoke any permit to operate (10A NCAC 09 .2000).
