    Name of Operation: CURRY CHILD CARE CENTER Facility ID: 4155168 Consultant: CAMILLE DAVIS Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 7/20/2023 Number Present: 17 Completed Date: 7/20/2023 Age: From 0 To 5 Total Minutes: 120 Time In: 10:10 AM Time Out: 12:10 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Routine Unannounced Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s routine unannounced visit was to monitor compliance with applicable child care requirements. This center currently operates with a Five Star License, effective September 8, 2020. The center is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNC-G) and is associated with two other centers, North Drive Child Care Center, and Brent Woodson Carter Center, each with their own ID number. Upon my arrival at the facility, I was greeted by Monica Giggetts, lead teacher for one of the classrooms. You, Christie Tongier, administrator, arrived during the visit. You assisted me with the required information and paperwork during the visit. The most recent sanitation inspection was completed on March 22, 2023 and received a classification of Superior with fifteen demerits. I completed a walk-through of the indoor and outdoor areas used by the children. Seventeen children were present. I observed the preschool children playing outside and completing hand washing and bathroom routines. In the classroom for infants, I observed the teachers preparing to take the children for a walk in the large stroller. A partial assessment of applicable child care requirements was conducted during today’s visit. The following violations were observed and documented. Violation Number Comment Rule 533 Breast milk, formula and other bottled beverages including sippy cups, sent from child's home were not fully prepared, dated, and labeled for the appropriate child. One child's bottles were not dated as required. 15A NCAC 18A .2804(d) 801 Written procedures were not established for pick-up and delivery of children. The center's arrival and departure procedures were not followed. A child's sibling dropped the child off at the outside door of the child's classroom. .1003(b) 802 Safe pick-up and delivery procedures were not communicated to parents and/or were not posted where they can be seen by the parents. The safe pick-up and delivery procedures were not posted in Space #1 of the facility. .1003(b) 805 Fire drills were not practiced monthly and/or the drill record was incomplete. A fire drill was not conducted for June 2023. .0604(t); .0302(d)(5) 847 Parent's medication authorization did not include required information. The parent's medication authorization was not on file for a child's asthma medication and for a child's eczema cream. 10A NCAC 09 .0803(4)(6-9) 849 Leftover medicines were not returned to the parent after the course of treatment was completed, after authorization was withdrawn or after authorization had expired and/or medication was not discarded within 72 hours of completion of treatment or withdrawal of authorization. A child's sunscreen and another child's bug repellent were leftover and had not been returned to the children's parents. Both items were unlabeled and no authorization was on file for either item. .0803(12) 1043 All staff records, except financial records, were not made available for review. Information required for staff files was unavailable for review. G.S. 110-91( 9) 1811 Shelter-in-place or lockdown drills were not practiced every three months and/or drill record was incomplete. Shelter in place or lockdown drills were not recorded for January 2023 until present. .0604(u);.0302(d)(8) In order to maintain compliance with North Carolina child care laws and rules, the above violations must be corrected immediately. A letter stating how the violations were corrected and how you plan to maintain compliance in the future must be submitted electronically to my email address by August 3, 2023. The compliance letter should contain the following information: 1. Facility Name 2. Facility ID 3. Date of the letter 4. The violation number, the date the violation was corrected, information regarding how the violation was corrected and how you plan to maintain compliance with the item number in the future. 5. Signature of the person preparing the letter. You were provided an opportunity to ask questions regarding interpretation and implementation of all child care requirements.
