This facility operates with a Four (4) Star License issued November 8, 2019, earning two (2) points in Program Standards, seven (7) points in Staff Education, and one (1) quality point. The last sanitation inspection was completed on December 14, 2024 earning a “Superior” classification. The last fire inspection was completed on October 17, 2025 and was approved for daytime care only. The center's last annual compliance visit was completed on December 10, 2024. A.Brickell-Person, Administrator, was present and available to assist. Twenty-nine (29) children age ranging zero (0) to four (4) were present. Children were observed during free choice play, teacher directed activities, and transitions such as toileting and handwashing. Staff interacted with the children in a positive and nurturing manner. You stated you do not provide transportation. I used the Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist for Child Care Centers and the Child Care Center Item Number Listing as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable childcare requirements pertinent to this facility. Ten percent of staff records and ten percent of children’s records, and all program records were monitored. All children’s and program records were in compliance. One (1) violation was written for staff record keeping. A computer- generated visit summary reviewed and left with you at the end of the visit. The following violations of child care requirements were documented. This facility operates with a Four (4) Star License issued November 8, 2019, earning two (2) points in Program Standards, seven (7) points in Staff Education, and one (1) quality point. The last sanitation inspection was completed on December 13, 2023 earning a “Superior” classification. The last fire inspection was completed on September 27, 2023 and was approved for daytime care only. The center's last annual compliance visit was completed on February 22, 2023. A.Brickell-Person, Administrator was present and available to assist. Sixteen (16) children age ranging zero (0) to five (5) were present. Children were observed during free choice play, teacher directed activities, and transitions such as toileting and handwashing. Staff interacted with the children in a positive and nurturing manner. I used the Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist and the Child Care Center Item Number Listing (DCD 0357) as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable child care requirements pertinent to your program. I reviewed 10% of the total enrolled children’s files and completed the children’s record forms during today’s visit. I reviewed and updated the staff/training worksheets. Based on my review, there was no lapse with compliance identified for the children records but there were two (2) violations documented for staff records. A computer-generated visit summary was reviewed and left with you at the conclusion of the visit. The following violations of child care requirements were documented. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with the applicable laws and rules; always whether they have been monitored or specifically discussed with you in the past. The best way for you to ensure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the childcare laws and rules on the Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) website. The following requirements were monitored during today's visit: Staff/Child Ratio, Supervision, Specialized trainings, Storage of Hazardous Products, Storage of Medication, Adequate/Approved Space, General Safety, Staff Records, Program Records, License Posted and Permit Restrictions. I used a checklist as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable child care requirements pertinent to your program. At the completion of the visit, a computer-generated visit summary was reviewed, and a copy was left with you. The following violations of child care requirements were documented. Playground inspections are required to be completed each month to maintain compliance with NC Child Care rules. However, the playground should be checked daily to ensure a safe outdoor environment for the children. RESOURCES HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAININGS DCDEE has partnered with the NC Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center to offer health and safety trainings in MOODLE. These trainings will remain at no charge for staff. The contract with ProSolutions ended on September 30, 2020. Health and safety trainings are due every five (5) years, including the Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment. The Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training must be completed via the Prevent Child Abuse NC website. The enrollment process and completion of course materials tend to work best with a windows laptop or desktop using Firefox, but other devices and Google Chrome should also work. You can access the health and safety trainings available in Moodle and Frequently Asked Questions by logging in using NCID and completing the following steps: • From the Moodle home page, students need to log-in with their NCID and password. The log-in is in the upper right corner of the screen. If you do not have a current log-in you will need to create one. • After log-in, the student should scroll to the bottom of the page. In the ‘Search courses’ box, the student should type in the short name “Year 2023 CCDF” and then click go. The student should not register for prior year courses as they are no longer available. • After completing the course search for “Year 2023 CCDF”, the student should be able to register for the course. • Once registered, the student will then need to use the “ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS” for step-by-step instructions. Applicants who achieve a score of 80% or higher on the NC Early Childhood Equivalency Exam earn the new North Carolina Early Childhood Equivalency Certificate. This certificate is equivalent to a North Carolina Early Childhood Credential and will qualify the individual to be a lead teacher in an early childhood classroom. To take the exam, go to DCDEE Moodle and select Early Childhood Professional Development/Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF)/North Carolina Early Childhood Equivalency Exam. The Infant Toddler Educator AWARD$ program has recently gone through some exciting programmatic updates. The original AWARD$ program was only available to teachers working full-time in B-3 classrooms that had an AA in ECE or higher degree and were employed by 4- and 5-star programs. The education requirement has been reduced as an incentive to support teachers seeking to increase their education in any star rated licensed program.
