A rated license assessment was also completed today. I monitored the indoor and outdoor environments for compliance with child care requirements. Smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, first aid kit, refrigerator thermometer, storage of medication and hazardous products, outlets, toys and materials and the bathroom the children use were all monitored for compliance. The schedule, SIDS information, emergency telephone numbers, First Aid Chart and a summary of NC Child Care Law were all posted at the time of today's visit. Qualifying letters, CPR/ first aid, ITS-SIDS, health questionnaire and emergency procedures were monitored for compliance. The last fire drill was documented as completed on 10-26-23 at 10:00 am. The last outdoor inspection was documented as completed on 10-26-23. A shelter in place drill was conducted on September 25, 2023. At the time of the visit, two preschool children were present. I observed you reading to the children when I arrived. I observed the children playing and you positively interacting with them. I also observed the children eating lunch and napping. For lunch the children had ham, cheese, crackers, peppers, bread, banana, and milk. Based on the information currently available, you are eligible for the following point levels: Education - Based on completion of an AAS in Early Childhood Education, you are eligible for seven points in education. Program Standards - You completed your self study from 7-24-23-11-3-23. I reviewed it today. You are eligible for two points in Program Standards. Quality Point – You completed a 30 hour class entitled The Business Side of Child Care on May 9, 2023, making you eligible for one quality point. Total Points - 7 (Education ) + 2 (Program) + 1 (Quality) = 10 points or a four star license. Based on point levels, you would be eligible for a four star license. Violation Number Comment Rule 910 Copy of each child's health assessment, including the operator's own preschool child(ren), was not on file within 30 days of enrollment. The three school age children did not have a medical statement on file. GS 110-91(1); 10A NCAC 09.1721(a)(1) 1601 License was not posted in a place in the home where parents are able to view daily. The temporary license was not posted. G.S.110-99(b) & .1702(i) ****Child care licensing requirements are established to ensure a safe and healthy child care environment. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all of the licensing requirements that apply to your type of program. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with all of the applicable laws and rules at all times. The best way for you to make sure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the child care law and rules.**** Please send me a written statement describing how and when the above violations were corrected. The written statement must be received no later than 11-22-23. Please note that if your letter is mailed, a hand written signature is required. As an alternative, compliance letters can now be submitted via email.
