The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed November 18, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 95% which is above the 75%, as required by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4)(c-d). This program currently operates with a five-Star License issued June 2, 2024. The License was based on the program earning seven points in education standards, six points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option the child care administrator has at least 10 years of documented child care administrative work experience in a licensed program. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Tyesha Davis, Administrator, and the owner’s corporation status was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as Current-Active. Sanitation Classification of Superior completed November 25, 2024 Fire Classification of Approved for daytime care only completed March 10, 2025. Peggy Mathews, Assistant, was present while observing the indoor and outdoor areas. Children were observed participating in free choice play, large group time, and outdoors play. They were observed playing with soft toys, reading books, singing songs participating in finger play, and charting activity in the NC PreK classroom. Ms. Davis arrived around 9:20a.m., to finish the visit. Lunch served today was green bean casserole, chicken patties, pears, wheat bread, and milk. In space # 1, an observation was completed from 9:05a.m. to 9:20a.m., The children were observed crawling about the space playing with soft blocks, trucks, cars, and stacking blocks. One teacher was observed changing a child’s diaper. The other teacher sat with the children on a mat while they played. The teacher smiled, laughed, and talked with the children about the colors of different items they were playing with, while naming what the items were. The children were engaged and smiling at the teacher as she talked to them. In space# 2, an observation was completed from 9:25a.m. to 9:40a.m., The children were observed participating in group time singing songs and participating in finger plays. The children were engaged in singing the song “Five Little Ducks” and “Old McDonald” The teacher counted, made animal sounds and then requested the child to tell her the name of an animal on the farm. In space #4, and observation was completed from 9:45a.m. to 10a.m. The children observed participating in group time, the teacher had just finished a story about going to kindergarten. She then did an activity with the children with the Question “How do we feel about going to kindergarten. After every child put their name under how they felt. They then counted each name under the three different feelings and the teacher then did a math activity out of that activity. The children were engaged and excited to participate in the activity. The staff and training worksheet were monitored for any update with CPR & First Aid, IT-SIDS training, and CBC. One staff member, Sharma Shalu, did not have a current CBC on file. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Ms. Davis. The following violations were observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. The teachers sang songs, talked to the children and were engaged in the children’s play. I shared with the teachers that the children were enjoying themselves singing and dancing. They were smiling, laughing, and enjoying what they were doing. I encouraged the administrator to share what a great job they were doing and to keep having meaningful conversations as it will build and expand the children’s vocabulary. This program currently operates with a five-Star License issued June 2, 2024. The License was based on the program earning seven points in education standards, six points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option the child care administrator has at least 10 years of documented child care administrative work experience in a licensed program. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Tyesha Davis, Administrator, and the owner’s corporation status was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as Current-Active. Sanitation Classification of Superior completed November 25, 2024 Fire Classification of Approved for daytime care only completed March 10, 2025. Peggy Mathews, Assistant, was present while observing the indoor and outdoor areas. Children were observed participating in free choice play, large group time, and outdoors play. They were observed playing with soft toys, reading books, singing songs participating in finger play, and charting activity in the NC PreK classroom. Ms. Davis arrived around 9:20a.m., to finish the visit. Lunch served today was green bean casserole, chicken patties, pears, wheat bread, and milk. In space # 1, an observation was completed from 9:05a.m. to 9:20a.m., The children were observed crawling about the space playing with soft blocks, trucks, cars, and stacking blocks. One teacher was observed changing a child’s diaper. The other teacher sat with the children on a mat while they played. The teacher smiled, laughed, and talked with the children about the colors of different items they were playing with, while naming what the items were. The children were engaged and smiling at the teacher as she talked to them. In space# 2, an observation was completed from 9:25a.m. to 9:40a.m., The children were observed participating in group time singing songs and participating in finger plays. The children were engaged in singing the song “Five Little Ducks” and “Old McDonald” The teacher counted, made animal sounds and then requested the child to tell her the name of an animal on the farm. In space #4, and observation was completed from 9:45a.m. to 10a.m. The children observed participating in group time, the teacher had just finished a story about going to kindergarten. She then did an activity with the children with the Question “How do we feel about going to kindergarten. After every child put their name under how they felt. They then counted each name under the three different feelings and the teacher then did a math activity out of that activity. The children were engaged and excited to participate in the activity. The staff and training worksheet were monitored for any update with CPR & First Aid, IT-SIDS training, and CBC. One staff member, Sharma Shalu, did not have a current CBC on file. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Ms. Davis. They were smiling, laughing, and enjoying what they were doing. I encouraged the administrator to share what a great job they were doing and to keep having meaningful conversations as it will build and expand the children’s vocabulary. A spray bottle and a aerosol dispenser for Prestone De-Ice was left on one of the vehicles that transport children. The administrator removed the items from the vehicles and store them in a locked cabinet for safe storage. .2820(b) 887 Caregivers did not document compliance with visually checking on sleeping infants aged 12 months or younger and/or the documents were not maintained for a minimum of one month. Safe sleep checks had not been completed. The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed January 19, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 100% which is above 75%, as required by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4)(c-d). This program currently operates with a five-Star License issued June 5, 2024. The License was based on the program earning seven points in education standards, six points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option the child care administrator has at least 10 years o documented child care administrative work experience in a licensed program. The information on record with the DCDEE was verified as correct by Tyesha Davis, Director, and the owner’s corporation status was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as current-active. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Superior completed 12/6/2023. Fire Classification of approved for daytime care only completed 3/5/2024. Ms. Davis was present while I observed the indoor and outdoor areas. Upon entering the facility, the children in all spaces were observed having Lunch. After lunch the children participated in bathroom routines and transitioned to rest time. Lunch served today was ravioli, pears, green beans and potatoes, cheese toast, and milk. Transportation was monitored during the visit.
