Name of Operation: THE SUNSHINE CHILD CARE Facility ID: 26001739 Consultant: YOLANDA PRIDGEN Operation Type: Family CC Home Case Number: Visit Date: 1/8/2025 Number Present: 4 Completed Date: 1/8/2025 Age: From 0 To 2 Total Minutes: 150 Time In: 09:45 AM Time Out: 12:15 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Family CC Home Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today's visit was to monitor compliance with applicable child care requirements pertinent to a Routine Unannounced Visit. The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed January 16, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was 100%, as required by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4)(c-d). This program currently operates with a two (2) Star License issued April 1, 2019. The License was based on the program earning one (1) point in education standards, two (2) points in program standards, and one (1) quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option: Serves no more than two infants under age one. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Nermin K. Simpson. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of superior completed May 23, 2024. N. Simpson, Owner/Operator, was present and accompanied us while observing the indoor area. The outdoor areas were observed unaccompanied. Upon arrival, I observed four children ages 0 to 2 years old in the living area of the home. The operator was observed completing diapering and hand washing routines with each child. I observed children singing and dancing to various nursery rhymes and songs. The operator sang “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” with the children as they played with push/pull toys, soft blocks, and colored pages with age-appropriate sized crayons. When finished, I observed the operator prepare the children for mealtime by assisting them with handwashing. Lunch was prepared by individual families and the operator assisted the children with feeding themselves. Soft children’s music played as children ate their meal. Nutrition Opt-Out forms were on file for each child enrolled. Following lunch, children were placed in their individual Pack and Plays for rest time. The Verification of Required Information for Operator and Additional Caregivers and the Operator’s Statement of Responsibility forms were completed during today’s visit. Two children’s files were monitored. The most recent fire drill was completed on January 3, 2025 and a shelter-in-place emergency drill was completed on December 20, 2024. The most current monthly outdoor inspection was completed on January 5, 2025. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with N. Simpson. The following violation was observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 1301 Operator did not complete the required number of on-going training hours as specified in rule. The operator completed 5.5 training hour of the required 12 hours of annual on-going training hours based on their education. GS 110-91(11); 10A NCAC 09 .1705(b)(5) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent.
