Name of Operation: NEW CENTURY PRIME TIME Facility ID: 26002023 Consultant: NANCY STRATFORD Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 9/3/2024 Number Present: 63 Completed Date: 9/3/2024 Age: From 5 To 12 Total Minutes: 120 Time In: 02:30 PM Time Out: 04:30 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Routine Unannounced Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today's visit was to monitor compliance with applicable child care requirements pertinent to a routine unannounced visit. The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed March 05, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 99%. This program currently operates with a Three-Star License issued May 26, 2017. The License was based on the program earning four points in education standards, two points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option for: Staff benefit package and Infrastructure of parent involvement. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Mr. Tahir Hairston, Group Leader, and the owner’s corporation status was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as current-active. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Superior completed January 23, 2024. Fire Classification of Approved completed November 16, 2023. A violation was cited for the fire inspection. The fire inspection was received on November 16, 2023. Mr. Tahir was present and accompanied me while observing the indoor areas. Upon arrival, the children washed their hands, completed toileting activities, and put their things in their cubbies. The group leaders completed their attendance for their assigned group. The snack served was goldfish crackers and 6 oz chilled apple juice. After eating their snack, the children selected an activity. All materials were open and available for children. A group of children went outdoors to play. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Mr. Hairston. The following violation was observed. Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. The fire inspection was not submitted within one week of the inspection completion date. The fire inspection was completed on November 3, 2023 and the fire inspection was submitted on November 16, 2023. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. The violation observed and documented today may impact the compliance history score. The violation observed and documented today was corrected during today’s visit. A compliance letter is not required. Facility Specific TA/Consultation/Reminders: Observation/Technical Assistance: During the observation, the children completed toileting and handwashing routines. The children then transitioned to the table to eat their snack. Technical assistance is provided today for conversations. Conversations can also occur during mealtimes. This is important for the proper growth and development of young children. The staff members can talk to the children about the activities planned for the day or talk about a previous activity. Children that may not be engaged often in conversation, the staff members can converse based on their interest for example, butterflies, animals, swimming, or sports. After the children finished their snack, there were a variety of activities available for children. Today, I noticed books on various emotions. This is an excellent opportunity in helping children regulate emotions, also today, we talked about CSEFEL, although this website focuses on children birth to age 5, and the children enrolled are ages 5 years to 12 years, this is an excellent website to use some of the materials to help expand on children’s social and emotional needs, you can visit http://csefel.vanderbilt.edu/ for resources to help manage behaviors and provide strategies. This website is the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) that focuses on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age 5. School-aged Professional Development Opportunities: The Cumberland County Partnership for Children is sponsoring the “Let’s Get Connected” The School Aged Connection. The in-person event focuses on creating a safe and inclusive community for sharing and learning new concepts. This learning event is for directors and school-age staff only (newly hired and/or seasoned Group Leaders). Training topics to be covered are: growth and development, classroom management, learning environments, building relationships, safety and wellness, positive behaviors, activity planning, and sanitation. Staff members can register for session 1 on September 14, 2024/ session 2 on November 16, 2024.
