The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed May 23, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 98% which is above the 75%, as required by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4)(c-d). This program currently operates with a Three - Star License issued June 6, 2023. The License was based on the program earning six points in education standards, two points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option with serves no more than two infants under one year of age. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Kimberly Crawford, Teacher, and the owner’s corporation status was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as current-active. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Superior Completed May 23, 2024. Tionna Crawford was present while I observed the indoor and outdoor areas. Upon entering the facility, It was stated that Ms. Crawford was at a Dental Appointment. The children were observed participating in free choice activities in the play area of the home. After free choice play the children participated in bathroom routines and had a morning snack. The morning snack was goldfish and milk. Ms. Crawford arrived to the facility at about 10:30a.m. An observation was completed from 9:15a.m. – 9:30 a.m.; the children were observed participating in free choice play. While in free choice play the teacher moved about the space and assisted the children in their play. She sat in the dramatic play area with all four children while they played with pretend food, pots and pans, stackable magnetic stacking toys and musical toys. The teacher talked to them about what they were playing with, naming the items and asked them about the color of the times and how many they had. The Verification of Required Information for Operator and Additional Caregiver and the Operator’s Statement of Responsibility forms were updated during today’s visit. Your signature on these forms will serve as verification that the information provided was accurate and complete. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Ms. Crawford. The following violation was observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 2019 Operator did not complete Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training within the required time frame. Both the operator and the additional teacher did not complete Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment training with five years of the last one complete in August of 2019. .1703(a)(5) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent.     Name of Operation: BUZZIE BODIES EARLY LEARNING CHILD CARE, LLC Facility ID: 26002571 Consultant: NANCY STRATFORD Operation Type: Family CC Home Case Number: Visit Date: 5/23/2024 Number Present: 4 Completed Date: 5/23/2024 Age: From 0 To 3 Total Minutes: 225 Time In: 09:15 AM Time Out: 01:00 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Family CC Home Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today's visit was to monitor compliance with applicable child care requirements pertinent to an annual compliance visit, including Health and Safety Training. The previous Temporary Time Visit was completed on June 6, 2023, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 99% which is above 75%, as required by North Carolina General Statute 110-90(4)(c-d). This program currently operates with a Three Star License issued June 6, 2023. The License was based on the program earning six points in education standards, two points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet a programmatic option: Infant capacity restricted to no more than two children under one year of age. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Ms. Kimberly Crawford, Operator, and the owner’s corporation status was verified on the Secretary of State’s website as current-active. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Superior completed December 21, 2023. Kimberly Crawford, Operator, was present and accompanied me while observing the indoor and outdoor areas. I observed children in the playroom of the home. There was music playing for the children and the children were playing with toys. The children pretended to cook and pushed trucks. There was one infant sitting in their infant seat. Lunch served was hamburgers, collard greens, pineapples, bread, and milk. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Ms. Crawford. The following violations were observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 714 Monthly check for hazards on the outdoor play area was not completed using a form supplied by the Division. The monthly checks on the outdoor play area were missing for the previous months. The forms were completed for the month of May 2024 and December 2023. The monthly checks were not on file for the last twelve months. This was corrected because the monthly check was completed for the month of May 2024. 10A NCAC .1721(e)(5)(A-F) 1853 The operator did not conduct a monthly fire drill. The monthly fire drill was not completed for the following months: July 2023, November 2023, and January 2024. This was corrected because the monthly fire drill was completed for the month of May 2024. .1719(a)(15) & .1721( e)(2) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Violations observed and documented today may impact the compliance history score. The violations observed and documented today was corrected during today’s visit. A compliance letter is not required. Facility Specific TA/Consultation/Reminders: Emergency Preparedness Plan (FCH): The Emergency Preparedness Plan was available for review; however, it was not updated to reflect a current date. The plan was last updated June 2022. The caregiver stated there were no changes. Today I notified you that the EPR plan will need to be updated annually. If there are updates, the plan will need to be reprinted. If there are no updates, the operator can just print the cover page. The cover page will update with a current date. The EPR plan is helpful to have to assist with emergencies. Refer to Child Care Rules 10A NCAC 09 .1714, for more information regarding this rule requirement. Fire Drill Log: Fire Drills will need to be completed once every month. Today you stated that during the months that you completed the shelter in place or lockdown drill, you did not complete the fire drill because you were unaware that the two were separate requirements. Review more requirements in Rule 10A NCAC 09 .1719(a)(16) &.1721(e)(7). During today’s visit, you were able to complete a fire drill. The information was recorded on the log. Monthly Playground Inspections: Monthly playground inspections will need to be completed once monthly by an individual trained in playground safety requirements. We discussed options for compliance. The monthly playground inspection was completed for the month of May 2024 and the month of December 2023. I informed you to keep the monthly inspections on file for the previous year from the last annual compliance visit. So during my next annual compliance visit with your facility, I will review monthly outdoor checks from June 2024-May 2024.
