Name of Operation: ARETHER'S LITTLE M & M'S CHILDCARE II Facility ID: 26001750 Consultant: NANCY STRATFORD Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 11/12/2025 Number Present: 16 Completed Date: 11/12/2025 Age: From 4 To 5 Total Minutes: 115 Time In: 12:25 PM Time Out: 02:20 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today's visit was to monitor compliance with applicable child care requirements pertinent to an annual compliance visit, including compliance with requirements located in Child Care Rule Section .3000 in Spaces # 1, which serve children participating in the NC Pre-K program, and Health and Safety Training. The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed November 19, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 99%. This program currently operates with a Five-Star License issued March 27, 2020. The License was based on the program earning seven points in education standards, seven points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet an education option for: The child care administrator has at least 10 years of documented child care administration work experience in a licensed program. The information on record with DCDEE was verified as correct by Ms. Arether Mills, Administrator. Current Inspections are as follows: Sanitation Classification of Superior completed August 18, 2025. Fire Classification of Approved completed July 03, 2025. A violation was observed for fire inspection. Ms. Mills was present and assisted me while observing the indoor and outdoor areas. In Space #1, the children were resting on their cots with quiet music playing. After resting, the teachers helped the children clean up their things. Toileting and handwashing routines were observed. Snack Served was animal crackers and water. The most recent fire drill was completed on November 03, 2025, and the most recent shelter in place drill was completed November 03, 2025. The most current monthly outdoor inspection was completed on November 03, 2025. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Ms. Mils. The following violation was observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. The fire inspection was not completed within one year form the last. The last fire inspection was dated for July 1, 2024. This was corrected. The current fire inspection is dated for July 03, 2025. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. The violation observed and documented today may impact the compliance history score. The violation observed and documented today was corrected during the visit. A compliance letter is not required. Facility Specific TA/Consultation/Reminders : Fire Inspection: An annual Approved Fire Inspection is required annually and validates the building, premises, and program are following current Fire Codes; all of which attest a safe environment for children. Fire Inspections will need to be completed within 12 months of the center’s previous fire inspection. In addition, the Rule states the inspection must be on the form provided by the Division and mailed or emailed to the Consultant within seven (7) days. The previous Annual Compliance Visit was completed February 06, 2024, and prior to today’s visit, the eighteen-month compliance history score was at 97%. This program currently operates with a Five-Star License issued March 27, 2020. The License was based on the program earning seven points in education standards, seven points in program standards, and one quality point by choosing to meet an education option for: The child care administrator has at least 10 years of documented child care administration work experience in a licensed program. Fire Classification of Approved completed July 05, 2023. Ms. Sheila Richardson, Lead Teacher, was present and assisted me while observing the indoor areas. Upon arrival, the children were sitting at the table eating lunch. The teacher talked to the children about their food. After eating lunch, the children cleaned their faces with a wipe and washed their hands. The teacher placed their cots in their assigned spots and the children rested on their cots. Quiet music was playing. Lunch served was chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, rice, lima beans, and milk. A violation was cited because the children were not served fruit. At the completion of the visit, the Visit Summary was reviewed with Ms. Mills. The following violation was observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 501 Meals/snacks did not comply with the Meal Patterns for Children in Child Care Programs. In Space #1, the children were served chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, rice, lima beans, and milk. The children were not served a fruit. 10A NCAC 09 .0901(a) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. The violation observed and documented today may impact the compliance history score. The violation observed and documented today must be corrected immediately. Additionally, by 5:00pm on June 24, 2024, you must submit a written, dated, and signed statement to me. The statement must describe accurately and in detail, how and when the violations were corrected. Talking to the children helps build on teacher and child relationships. Prior to the meal being served, the teacher can talk about what is next. This will prepare the children in advance. Teachers can also use mealtimes as an opportunity to reflect on what was learned previously in the classroom. The teacher can expand on the learning topics by talking to the children about the topics from the lesson plan.
