The director, Kisha Dixon, assisted me with today's visit. The visit summary was reviewed with Ms. Dixon, and a copy was given at the conclusion of the visit. Upon my arrival, I was greeted and welcomed into your program. Seven (7) classrooms were opened today. I conducted a general walk-through of the indoor and outdoor learning environments. I observed the children participating in circle time, having free play, preparing for lunch and napping in their indoor learning environment. The infants were having floor time, having one on one with the teacher, eating lunch and resting their bodies in their indoor learning environment. RATED LICENSE STATUS The program holds a 5-star NAC Accreditation License issued on 6/6/25. INSPECTIONS The last fire drill was conducted on 2/11/26. The last emergency drill was conducted on 1/5/26. The last playground inspection was conducted on 2/13/26. The last sanitation inspection was conducted on 10/1/25. The last fire inspection was conducted on 6/11/25. During this visit, a partial assessment of the child care requirements was conducted. The following items were monitored and found in compliance during this visit: nurturing interactions, daily attendance, license posted & permit restrictions followed, safe indoor environment, fire drills & inspections, CRC qualifications, CPR/First Aid certification, and storage of medications & hazardous materials. The following violations were observed and recorded during today's visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 536 Formula and other beverages which require refrigeration were not identified for each child or properly refrigerated. A child in space #4 did not have a name or a current date on their bottle. 15A NCAC 18A .2804(d) 847 Parent's medication authorization did not include required information. A child in space #2 did not have the required information stated on the typical form to administer the Destin correctly. 10A NCAC 09 .0803(4)(6-9) 1048 All staff did not successfully complete certification in First Aid appropriate to the age of children in care. Verification of staff completion of First Aid training from an approved training organization was not in the staff file. A staff member did not complete First Aid within the first 90 of employment. .1102(c) 1049 All staff did not successfully complete certification in CPR training appropriate to the age of the children in care. Verification of staff completion of the CPR course from an approved training organization was not in the staff file. A staff member did not complete CPR within the first 90 days of employment. .1102(d) In order to comply with the NC Laws & Rules, any violations cited today must be corrected immediately. I would suggest putting diaper cream on your monthly checklist to ensure that all creams are labeled. I would suggest making sure that all teachers in the infant classroom double check bottles in the morning to make sure the child’s name and current date is visible. I would suggest putting all new employee required training dates on a calendar to ensure they are completed within the required time. CONSULTATION Criminal background checks must be renewed every five (5) years. Criminal background checks can be completed up to six months prior to the expiration date. We are encouraging all staff to begin their renewal process early to avoid lapses in their qualification. During this visit, a full assessment of Child Care Requirements was conducted with the following exceptions. A checklist was used to monitor all child care requirements. I was informed that the center does not transport; therefore, transportation was not monitored during today’ s visit. The following violations were observed and recorded during today's visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. A current fire inspection was not available for review during today's visit. The last fire inspection was conducted on March 15, 2024. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) 1052 Staff required to receive on-going training had not completed the required number of hours according to their education and experience. The program is in the "held harmless" status and points from the previous assessment are carried forward. The program received 5 points in Program Standards, 4 points in Staff Education, and 1 quality point through the programmatic options of having a staff benefits package and an infrastructure of parent involvement.
