The purpose of today’s unannounced visit was to monitor applicable child care requirements for your Annual Compliance visit. This center operates with a five-star license, which was issued on 5/18/22. The compliance history for this center for the previous eighteen-month timeframe was 97%. During today’s visit I all indoor and outdoor licensed space was monitored. I observed the children enjoying the outdoor environment. School age children were present today, due to year-round-school track out. I observed the school age children playing UNO and board games. I later observed the children eating lunch, which consisted of meatloaf, brown rice, collard greens, mandarin oranges, and milk. Upon arrival a therapist was present, working with a child in classroom space #2, while the teacher and other children in classroom space #2 were playing in classroom space #1. I received the staff/training worksheet prior to today’s visit. During today’s visit all staff files were reviewed and yearly in-service training requirements were tallied. Twelve children’s files were reviewed during the visit. CURRICULUM: This center was implementing the Creative Curriculum. TRANSPORTATION: The owner/director stated that this center was not currently providing transportation services. INSPECTIONS: The last documented annual fire inspection was conducted on 1/18/23. The last documented sanitation inspection was conducted on 5/11/23. The last documented fire drill was conducted on 10/2/23. The last documented shelter-in-place drill was conducted on 7/5/23. The owner/director was aware that another drill needed to be conducted this month. The last playground inspection was conducted on 10/1/23. The following violation was cited today: Violation Number Comment Rule 1757 A valid qualification letter was not on file and available to review at the facility. The Criminal Record Check clearance letter for the therapist could not be located during the visit. G.S. 110-90.2(b) & (d) & .2703(e) All violations must be corrected immediately. Please send me a signed Corrective Action letter by 10/19/23, stating how the violation cited today has been corrected. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED TODAY ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: SANITATION RULES: The owner/director stated that she had attended a training on the new sanitation rules.
