The last annual compliance visit was conducted 7/6/2023. You assisted me with the visit. Your program currently operates with a three-star license, issued 8/4/23, earning 4 points in the education component, 2 points in the program standards component and 1 quality point for serving no more than 2 children under one year of age. Your contact information on the Division of Child Development & Early Education (DCDEE) website was reviewed during today’s visit and all information is current. It is important to frequently check your email to remain informed about any new changes that have or may occur. The family childcare home’s compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was ninety-five percent as of 11/28/23. Four (4) children and the provider present when I arrived. The menu stated that cereal and milk were served for breakfast. The children were engaged in indoor free play. Learning materials and activity area supplies were kept on low-lying shelves easily accessible to the children. Lunch was being prepared and consisted of sliced ham, beans, oranges, sliced bread, and milk. The following violation was documented and corrected. Violation Number Comment Rule 716 Electrical outlets not in use were not covered. An electrical on the wall near the bathroom did not have a safety cover. 10A NCAC .1719(a)(27) Child care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. Technical Assistance: Electrical Outlet- Approximately 2,400 children are injured annually by inserting objects into the slots of electrical outlets. An outlet on the wall by the bathroom did not have a safety cover. All electrical outlets not in use that are in areas accessible to children must be protected with an outlet cover. This includes unused outlets on power strips. This violation was corrected during the visit. Public Health Toolkit Updates - The ChildCareStrongNC Public Health Toolkit for Child Care (updated 7/2022) available on the DHHS website, and sent to your facility contact email, provides guidance on requirements and recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in child care facilities. If you have questions about COVID-19, an exposure, or exclusion policies, contact the Child Care Health Consultant assigned to your county and/or your local health department. Annual License Fees-License fee collection for 2023 is moved to December. There are a few changes to the annual license fee process: 1. All invoices will be emailed, and no paper copies will be sent through the Postal Service. 2. All invoices will be emailed by December 1, 2023 and will include the invoice number and total amount due. 3. All payments are due no later than December 31, 2023. Payments must be submitted online only through the Division’s website using a Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or by e-check. Providers will need their Facility ID number and their 2023 Invoice number to complete the payment process. Failure to pay the license fee is a violation of NCGS § 110-90(1a) and can result in a revocation of your child care license. In addition, unpaid license fees will be assessed a 10% late fee and accrued interest as established by NCGS § 147-86.23.
