This family child care home has a four-star license and an 18-month compliance history score of 96%. The center’s license and NC child care law were prominently posted. I was greeted by Rhodell Johnson-Houser, Owner. I discussed with you, Mrs. Johnson-Houser, the Annual Compliance Monitoring guidelines. Indoor Learning Environment: Staff/child ratio, supervision, capacity, group size and space were observed in compliance today. The caregiver was observed during nurturing and engaging interactions with children. There were four (4) child present today. There are five (5) children enrolled in the center. The center is currently only providing care for first shift. Inspections: The center’s Emergency Drill Log and Report was reviewed. Fire drills were documented monthly as required, the centers last fire drill was documented on 7/2/24. Shelter-in-place drills were in compliance and documented on 7/1/24. The playground safety inspections were reviewed, the last playground inspection was documented on 7/1/2024. The facility last had a sanitation inspection in February 2024. The inspection was completed by the Mecklenburg County Health Department. Outdoor Learning Environment: The outdoor learning environment was monitored and in compliance. Safety: The center is in compliance with the firearm safety requirements. Transportation: The center does provide transportation, the vehicle used to transport children was monitored and in compliance. Ford Transit, License plate #JME-4192 Insurance expires: 11/21/24 Registration expires: 1/31/25 Nutrition: Meals met nutritional value during today’s visit. Files: Children records were monitored today and in compliance. Staff files were monitored today and in compliance. There was one (1) violation cited today. Violation Number Comment Rule 706 Corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, and products under pressure in an aerosol dispenser and any substance that may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not kept in locked storage when children were in care. I observed hand sanitizer on the counter near the kitchen sink. .1719 (a)(7) Technical Assistance: 1. 10A NCAC 09 .1719 (a)(7) keep all corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product that is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled shall be kept in its original container or in another labeled container, used according to the manufacturer's instructions, and stored in a locked area when not in use. Locked areas shall include those that are unlocked with a combination, electronic, or magnetic device, key, or equivalent locking device. These unlocking devices shall be kept out of the reach of a child and shall not be stored in the lock. Toxic substances shall be stored below or separate from medications and food. Any product not listed in this Paragraph that is labeled "keep out of reach of children" without any other warnings shall be kept inaccessible to children when not in use, but is not required to be kept in locked storage. The product shall be considered inaccessible to children when stored on a shelf or in an unlocked cabinet that is mounted a minimum vertical distance of five feet above the finished floor. The violation was corrected during the visit, therefore no further action is required. Rated License: Hold harmless has been extended until the new QRIS is implemented (SB 425). Today we discussed FCCH field trips, Mrs. Johnson Houser wanted to know if children from other FCCH are allowed to visit at other FCCH for lunch/ field/water day playdates. The answer is no, but FCCH providers are able to meet up at public places (ie: parks, play areas, etc) for "playdates".
